I sold something on amazon

Even if it was only something worth about $2.

Maybe I'm focusing on the wrong niche with weight loss. Maybe I should be focusing on aspergers.

>_<

It's so hard when you want to make two things work.

Hi missmystery, thew hardest thing is getting that first sale. Once you have it, your belief increases, so don't feel bad. I want to say a huge congratulations!

At least now you know it works

I jumped from article and website content writing to affiliate marketing a month ago, but doesn't experienced any success until now. I have 350 clicks but no sales. But, I have not bowed down to these bitter stats, as I am planning to make an authority site.

However, congratulations on your first sale. Now try to scale your success furthermore.

Well done on your first sale - what are you promoting on your site and is it high ticket?

On one of my sites I sell products in the range of $200 to $800, but I keep getting sales for low ticket items when people come through to your site and decide to buy something else. Conversely on a site that sells kids toys for under $100 someone came in and spent $1100 on a tablet!

Keep the promotion up, add more products and you should see more sales.

The site I get traffic from isn't promotional, it's a support site for people with aspergers syndrome. I just have a few amazon links in my blog, and a few adsense ads here and there.

It's really annoying because I feel bad trying to sell to fellow aspies. It's part of the reason I started the weight loss site - which gets no traffic.

Small check better than no check. What does your marketing plan consist of?

For the site that's actually getting sales - nothing. The payout for amazon is so low I've only earned about 5 bucks on commissions for products I've sold. I might try some other affiliate programs too.

I just checked on ClickBank and there are a few Aspergers-related products paying over $20/sale.

Also, on one of my sites with Amazon products, I've found by placing a greater number of products on my home page so they are more visible, sales improved. How about placing one of the ClickBank products on your home page?

      Good luck!

Maybe it's not really about believing in yourself, but believing in what you are promoting and if you feel if that product actually provides value or not.

Well, I don't know anything about aspergers syndrome, but let me ask you, if you found something that you knew, and I mean truly knew could help fellow aspies deal with their condition, whether that is making life more easier, making life more valuable, or whatever, would you feel conflicted selling that?

Maybe you just need to search for better products, products that you feel or know or believe in will actually truly help.

And if there aren't any, then maybe think about a different niche.

One thing that you can do is to create a list of your interests, skills, and dare I say it, passions.

Then chose 2-3 things out of that list to do more research on.

Then once you choose 1 out of that 2-3, then start researching blogs, forums, and other sites that are related to that specific niche (whatever you choose)

Look to see what are the common questions people are asking, what are the common problems that people are running into, what are the topics/threads that you are seeing again and again, and again.

The answer to those questions will give you an idea of what that market/niche is looking for, and you can create a product around that, or find a product that answers those things and promote that.

Just a thought, you could find more blogs, forums, sites, etc on aspergers and look to see what are the common questions, problems, challenges, themes, topics, etc that you keep seeing over and over again.

And like I said above this will help you figure out what to promote and you will feel better about promoting that because you will know that is what fellow aspies are looking for, or wanting to solve.

Hope this gives you some ideas and helps you out.

Thanks. The thing is It is a problem with me - as I care too much about what people think. I get trolled really badly on youtube and it will get 10x worse if they think I'm only there to sell stuff.

I could simply steer clear of youtube for that, I guess.

I can't add much to Shane's excellent post just above.

I promote only things that I'd be happy for my parents to buy on my recommendation. That's my benchmark. I'm incredibly selective. I've spent many hundreds of hours trawling ClickBank's Marketplace and then inspecting products carefully and found about 30 products I'm happy to promote. (I suspect there must be 30 more there that I could promote, too. But that's a small proportion out of over 15,000!).
