How to correctly use Digg?

I've never used Digg before so I'm looking for some guidance.

I can't remember where it was that I read this but somewhere I read that every time I make a new post on my blog I should Digg it myself. I thought you couldn't digg your own posts. If you can, is there a limit to how many blog posts I should do this to.

Somehow this just doesn't seem right that I'm digging my own blog posts.

Can anyone share your thoughts on this and the correct way that Digg should be used.

Thanks,
Jeff Sargent

There is nothing wrong with digging your own posts. It is a great way to get your post indexed very fast.

The thing that you need to keep in mind is that Digg is a social site. If all you do is digg your own posts from your own site it will be seen as spam and you will never gain any traction.

Make sure you change up your Diggs, i.e. dig various articles from different sites. Don't just laser focus in on your own sites.

Thanks stayfocused for you input. I've been out of touch lately but I am back on track now and will start using Digg as you say.

I heard digg's a bust now. They do an I frame or something so that you don't get google juice from them any more. Anyone know anything about this?

It is in a frame now. I really honestly see no reasons whatsoever to digg every single post anyway even before digg was in a frame. Unless you sell something specific in that specific post, what is the point to digg?
