It seems that creating or getting someone to create original content seems to be sought after. How do you guys find making money marketing the ebooks and reports vs. CPA?

There is a big difference between how you would market and sell an ebook online versus how you would promote a CPA offer online.

    All the best,

I do pretty well selling PLR ebooks and video tutorials. I drive traffic to a squeeze page then a OTO and then follow ups and ads on the thank you page, etc.

I started by marketing other people's ebooks and reports and then quickly turned to creating my own...creating your own is FAR better and here's why...

Create once and sell forever = leverage.

When your business model is selling other people's stuff or CPA you have to keep up the marketing, keep up the effort, keep adjusting as traffic generation methods and advertising changes (every few months) so that you continue to make $$ - you typically reach a point where you max out AND you are always at risk of having someone (traffic source or CPA advertising network) pull the rug out from under you by changing the rules or running into business issues.

With your own info products you target hungry markets, go through the work to create the product and then leverage existing channels (affiliates, directories, retail, etc...) to sell and sell and sell while you go to work creating the next one.

I'm a huge fan of leverage because it lets you scale your business to something very substantial.

Dlemon, you touched on the nub of the problem - creating original content is the key. In my former offline world I wrote a lot of reports in a diverse range of assignments. So if you have the sort of background that required observation, analysis, and deduction, then it's a bit easier to structure your product and get it to flow. If you don't have these skills, then a good start is to use PLR products, but only as a foundation, then modify them extensively. Let your creative juices flow. You might be surprised what comes out of the sausage machine! Marketing the "sausage"? Jeff's spot on. I don't do CPA. Work out which of the target marketing strategies work best for you. You've got to have patience and persistence. Build it slow, build it sure. Same in the offline world!

I am selling articles for different blogs. Ebooks can be created as a product which can be sold by your personal website but it is better to keep mind that your product should provide a solution for a certain problem.

Not necessary if you buy high quality PLR. There are PLR ebooks and videos I sell daily that are exactly as I bought them. Modifying them would lower their value.

PLR has gotten a bad rap because there is so much junk. The 35,000 reports for $2 is not what I'm talking about. Just as high quality as you can produce yourself or maybe better. Customers never complain, so it must be doing the job.

Is it just the PLR content that you don't modify, or do you leave the graphics and everything else as they are as well?

        Thanks

I buy it, build sales pages and sell it with zero changes of any kind. Sometimes I will brand it with my links, but i don't change the content.

No - since WSO's must be for a product you created yourself.

I mostly don't sell MMO type PLR. I have niches outside MMO that don't even know what PLR is. Trying to sell it to people who know what it is and how to get it doesn't make much sense.
