Your main website title.

So, I'm guessing this is one of the more important features of your site, maybe not as much as quality content or where your traffic comes from but still important.

When picking out Home Page titles for your website what do you focus on? Keywords? Keyword that have low competition but only around 3,000 searches a month? Or will you go with the Keyword that have 10,000's of searches a month but might take you a while to break into the 1st page of google.

Maybe you'll just even use your Domain name.

What do you think of when choosing your Home Page Title?

I choose page titles focused around the major keywords, but also implement more elaborate terms that would catch traffic. For example, I have always been aiming for a top ranking under the term search engine optimization, but I also targeted professional search engine optimization. Pick more elaborate phrases that still obtain traffic and implement seed keywords. A good place to find seed keywords is at Quintura

Keywords in title is very important. So I try to include them in my title. I aim for less compatitive keywords. But try to right a lot of content and try to create lots of pages. Each page focus on 1 or 2 key words.

    Hi,

For a niche website you need a domain name with the exact keywords you are aiming at. But for your main website, where you sell different sort of e-books, offer courses and seminars, host your blog and all that, most internet marketers choose eather their own name or the name of their company (or most famous product).

The page title should accurately reflect the content of that page or overall theme of the website. Add too many keywords and you may be penalized for "stuffing".

Remember also, the page title will also be the title that comes up in the search results.

my keywords reflect the content of the page,my main page is rather generic in page title, but subpages are keyworded according to that specific service or product, i also submit each 'topical' page to the searches individually

For the main title I go big and aim for tens of thousands of searches, then I check my serp position every few weeks to make sure I am going up.

For blog posts I target long tail keywords and try to get a number one spot.
