Methods to increase Clickbank sales as an affiliate

I do decently by promoting Clickbank products on my site by matching closely related products to the content. Its not a big amount (around $1000 a year in commission) and these sales are usally generated by people going to the vendor's page by clickng on from links that I post on the contet pages of my site.

But by doing a bit of reading, am I right in thinking this is actually not the best way to go; in fact, it is probably best to actually have reviews of the products and link to these reviews and from there link tot he vendor rather than straight to the vendor from the content page.

How do I go about reviewing products that I won't actually have tried out and also that much of the information that a potential buyer would need is already on the vendors landing page?

    Ask the vendors!

If someone approaches me and shows that they have a good quality site thats on topic and that they are going to actively promote the product i give them access

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean. Give access to what?

Actually, looking at my stats just now I am on course to do close to $1500 in commission if the current sales trends continue for the rest of the year.

I have chatted to people on an affiliate forum and most say its best to actually review the products promoted and then link it somewhere in or after the content and also promote the review page to get search traffic directly to it as well. Also, do some social media promotion.

My plans exclude ppc marketing which I just don't have time for.

But well the above plans may be true for affiliate products that are actually physical products, is it true for digital products? I assume the same method applies.
