    Hey BJ,

Ok, here is my take on this. Basically in terms of what converts, personally I don't see why one would convert better than another, it's just a link. What would affect conversions is what is placed between the www and the .com

However, I'd always recommend using the http as your mail may be read by a Text only browser or a PDF reader that cannot interpret a link that has no http prefix. Keeping the http prefix should automatically activate your link even in a text only mail client.

    Hope this helps.

      Exactly right.

If you haven't introduced the link correctly and given people a REASON to click, then nobody is going to click on it.

Therefore, it shouldn't matter whether you use http:// or www, it's the same thing and people are accustomed to both.

However, the same cannot be said for link shortening services. By my own research, TinyURL has a higher CTR than most other services due to it being a trusted service, and people are more likely to click on something they trust instead of a link which they may think will steal their house or something.

      Hope i've helped :-)

      - James.

Some good points made here. As an aside, do we really need the "www" prefix anymore? I think it gets in the way and most websites have their DNS entries set to not require it.

I just think that "mygreatproduct.com" looks better and is more memorable than "http://www.mygreatproduct.com".

This is another Huge debate all on it's own. While I also prefer the look (more use to it) of w-w-w. I have had better SEO results running two projects in parallel, one with the w's and one without. An extremely important Caveat is that never use both in one site, Google doesnt seem to like it and it can also create 404 errors over time if things change.

Another thought on this, since the initial question has been answered, is that like in Article marketing, it is good to have your primary keyword at the beginning of your article title, perhaps the same applies with your keywords in your domain name.I don't title my article "Article: My Article title goes here" - You know what I'm saying?

        Cheers

Well for PPC ads for years I've always used:
    MyDomainName.com

    with neither the:
    www

    or the:
    http://

I personally prefer the http... looks more pro to me but it's easier to remember the url without http, so whichever one you choose
