I'm not sure if anyone has talked about this recently, but I think it's a good constant reminder.

When someone sends you a PM regarding a WSO or other product, make sure you know the other person actually has the product before revealing too much about it.

I'm always reading WSO and Clickbank sales pages trying to figure out the big secret the author is selling. A clever way to do this is to send out an innocent PM to someone in the hopes that they would reveal the secret of the project.

Here's an example of how I handle this...

I can give you a marketing idea loosely based on what I'm doing. I think it would work well.

But before I do, and forgive me for doing this, but I need to make sure you actually have the product before I say something that would give away the big secret of this WSO.

Can you tell me what product we are promoting?

I can prove I have the product by quoting the last sentence of page 5, "I’m sure you’ll agree most are fantastic and you’ll see immediately the value!"

If you are doing proper tracking of sales this shouldn't be a problem. Just have the person provide you with the txn id of the product purchase and the payment details such as paypal transaction id xxxxxxx and payment email address yyy@zzz.com.

Then you just have to look up the txn id in your paypal account and verify.

Of course, if you are using a membership setup to provide access to your WSO, and everything you sell online should be behind a membership login, then it is even easier to verify.

This is all true if you are the owner /creator.

But I'm just a customer who left a review. I just don't want to be the one responsible for leaking secrets.

Look! No links in my signature. This means I actually have something useful to say. I'm not just posting to be posting...

This has always been an issue on this forum. People will try and get information or even support from you for a product they have never purchased.

I learnt this a long time ago. If anyone ever contacts me for support on this forum they are told they must submit all support requests using the 'Contact Us' page in the members area.

Funnily enough a few people who ask questions via PM here and are told to submit their questions in the members area will never end up sending through their question. Strange that, huh?!

Agree. Be always sure not to spill the beans, and to those who resort into this kind of practice - it's a BIG trade secret, so go figure!
