Is this affiliate conversion rate good?

I am promoting a product from one of the large affiliate networks (not Clickbank) and so far I am getting a sale after 150 visitors I send. Is this good and can it be reduced i.e. get sales even faster?

This depends on marketing technique that you used.

a sale from 150 visitors, this means conversion rate is 0,67%. This is not bad. Conversion rate on the internet is about 0,5 - 1%.

No specific marketing really involved other than have a few links to the affiliate product at the end of a few of my articles. The articles are not about the affiliate product, but does cover cover topic in which the affiliate product happens to fall into so is pretty good match. And the traffic converting into these sales are from search.

Hypothetical example: article about interior design, I then just throw in a an affiliate product at the end of the article. So, the article is not about the affiliate but more a general interior design tips shall we say.

If it's SEO traffic and you're not really pre-selling effectively, and not building a list, one sale in 150 sales page visits is very good. You must have good articles in good places and be using them well. Really, I'm slightly surprised you can sell 1/150 in that way. Just imagine what you could do, if you built a list!

I think this is pretty good. Just drive more traffic so you can get more sales.

Keep in mind, conversion rate is just one variable...
Dollar sales are big factors too!

For example, one of my little side businesses the sales conversion rate is low (~ 0.4%). However, that's a high ticket item (1 sale = $3000). It's still very worthwhile even if I make just one sale a month.

And out of the 4 businesses that I do, the conversion rates range from 0.4 to 38% average. The 38% one is a low dollar offer --- I need 12% just to breakeven...

      My 2 cents,
      Mike

1/150 unique's is about the sales level I get for a $37 ebook, but having read around this forum for some time I now believe it can be worked on. I'm working towards 1/100.

It's all about the quality of your traffic.

If the 150 hits was from a personal recommendation to your mailing list I would call it terrible.

If the 150 hits came from a random collection of places then it shows promise.

Lastly what was the cost of this traffic? If you spent more than the commission it's not good news, either pay less for the traffic or promote a product which converts better or pays more.

If you don't actually pay for it and you're getting consistent traffic, that's pretty good.

I have found that for one of my most productive affiliate products, the conversions are definitely in the 0.3-0.6 range, so the key is to get lots of people to that site. And Google has just messed it up, so the sales have evaporated. Need to find a new way to get sales...

Also, don't believe all the numbers you get from big name marketers. They may send an offer to THEIR own buyers list and get pretty good conversions, but if you send traffic there cold, you may get MUCH worse conversions.

Timing is key too. When you get the traffic while people are actively looking for a new product, the conversion will be MUCH better. Later, not so much.

Oh God. This means I need to send 100-200 visitors to clickbank to promote a single product?

That's exactly what it means. And that's with a reasonably good presell offer!

I personally think that these numbers are not bad at all.

There are some products out there on the market that convert in every 300-500 visitors.

In terms of having one new sale in every 150 is not bad at all.

If you have a 0.67% buy rate and can get it to 1%-2% then that would be even better.

Depending on your niche, your sales rate will even drop in the holiday season in December but will jump higher in January-June.

These articles (without boasting) are pretty good. They rank well and generate good amount of genuine comments each week where people share their experiences and help each other out. Its in the health niche. The products I link to at the end of the article are very closely matched to the theme of these articles hence possible reason conversion is pretty good. I am surprised myself actually because I didn't know just adding one or two affiliate links to existing articles would do well as it has done.

These articles were written months and even years ago without any intention of selling anything.

At the moment the links are going to the product page of the affiliates, but I've been told before I joined this one that it maybe better if I review the products and link to them from the articles rather than to the product page. Obviously, the review pages will be linked to the products.

By the way, there is very little expense in search engine optimization as these articles have garnered lot of links naturally in the past. I do do a bit of link buying sporadically, if anything just to reassure myself. So, I would say cost to generate sales is negligible.

You need to build a list - that's where almost all the money is, in affiliate marketing!

Its not terrible, but it could definitely be improved. It really depends on what type of profit you are seeing from it.

It's not all that bad really. 150 visitors seems like a lot. But in reality you need much more visitors to make a lot of sales a day.

Wish you luck in getting more sales.
