Can You Do This With Fonts On A Website?

Hello Warriors:

This probably seems like a silly question but...

Given that, unless you stick to almost-universal fonts like Arial, Verdana, Times New Roman, etc., your website may look very different on your visitors' computer compared to how it looks on your own, is it possible to actually upload the font itself onto your website and tell visitors' browsers to use it?

Tommy.

You're looking for "embedded fonts." It can be done with CSS. The difficulty may be in finding fonts you like where the foundry allows them to be embedded. Many do not.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Yes, you can, but you'll generally end up having to code quite a bit of it. Look for FLIR (Facelift Docs) or sIFR for php. As always, make sure you read the licenses for the fonts, as some prohibit web use.

I stand corrected. There's even a WordPress plugin for FLIR, so you won't have to do that much coding...

I know this is kinda unrelated, but if you want a graphic with a wierd font, then you can use pictures. I would think twice before messing with your content font too much, because the whole thing might become unreadable to people.
