Using Flippa for market research for ecommerce

I've read elsewhere that flippa is a good way to research for potentially profitable searches for ecommerce sites.

To those who have used this method successfully, I was wondering what criteria's you had used to search for profitable niches through flippa.

Now I go to the "Just Sold" section and then sort for Revenue Over $5,000. I go to Just Sold to look for more currently profitable niches.

How do you use flippa to search for profitable niches?

One of the criteria on Flippa is revenue. Revenue factor is main measurement of the selling price.

If your site earns $xxx in month, then you multiply it 3-5 times as the selling price.

If you want to build a site then sell it, you need to think about how to monetize a site.

Anytime I see a site selling for high in the five figure range or anywhere in the six figure range I get all of the information that I can on the business then try to "reverse engineer" it. If I think I have figured out every aspect of that business and think I can do a better job then they are I immediately get to work.

That's how I do all my business though... anytime that I see a website or company that is very successful I find out what they do, see what it would cost me to do the same, see if I can do a better job and take some market share, then go for it.

You don't need to reinvent the wheel to make A LOT of money online.

      Thanks for the reply.

Which sections of Flippa do you go to do your research for profitable niches and what parameters do you set? (e.g., Above $5000, etc.)

I don't stick to just one niche or just one method of monetization.

I look for websites that are generating at least $8k/month NET profit, that don't rely on SEO and that can be managed within a few hours/day. Then I check to see if I can duplicate the business model.

It's not often that these sites come up but I'm not looking to do this over and over every day. I look for "home runs" and take action only once I know that I have a high chance of succeeding.

Rather then go to Just Sold section, you can also use Most Active section and you'll find there websites that receives most bids..
search through them and see why are they so hot to attract so many bidders
