One of the first things you should know about a home business is that your numbers will start out small. It can be very easy to get discouraged when you see all of these big numbers advertised by the guru's.

If you check your stats for the day and see that you only got 27 unique visitors and no sales, this is normal when you first start out.

The truth is that one article or you tube video won't allow you to retire, it takes a daily constant effort to succeed in this business.

Even if you just do one article, and one video a day that is 365 videos and 365 articles linking back to your site. Which will give you more exposure, traffic and sales over time, even if your only making 50-100 dollars a day at home, isn"t that still better than going to work everyday.

The more you work and build your business and exposure everyday, the more your numbers will rise, it is a marathon not a sprint in this industry.

It is partly the fault of the guru's that give you these unrealistic expectation, with their huge numbers, and their minutes a day.

What they are forgetting to tell you is that it took time to get where they are today, and it is not your fault if you think 100 visitors and one sale a day is bad. There are actually a lot of home business hopefuls that would kill for those numbers right now.

You can not become a millionaire overnight in this business, but you can become very comfortable in a short period of time, if you just get rid of your over night millionaire expectations

Most people fail to get out of the job mentality. With internet marketing you are 24/7 live. You are not tied to a brick and mortar store that you can only have open and staffed so many hours. If you only make 50 dollars a day 30 days a week that is a very good start and is very attainable in 3-6 months.

The goal is to not get distracted with reading forums to death and chasing the next guru ebook. Lot of those books have old or outdated info .. but with some of the best gurus you can take something from the table. Chances are you are your own best guru and it is about taking action. Have a set of daily goals that you must get done every day online ... even if you take a day or two off. If the tasks are not completed add them to the next day. If your task are not completed at the end of the week you work through your day off ... you really need to think as an owner and get rid of the job mentality quick. This is where most people fail. It is 99% taking action and accomplishing every day tasks that put you that much closer to your goals.

This is so true, especially if you're not using paid traffic sources. But eventually, 20 becomes 30, 30 becomes 60, etc, and a few months down the road you've gone from $30 / month to $30 a day. Really, the vast majority of IM is just about finding something that gets you SOME money, and scaling it so it gets you a LOT of money.
