How necessary are these in eBooks?

Oh for the love of God... Are you seriously asking this question? What do you think would happen if you didn't include it? What do you think would happen if you did include it?

Way your options and Pick one...

Some authors do and some don't so I have no idea what your expecting here other than a bunch of people that are for it and a bunch of people that don't do it and some that haven't stayed up late at night thinking about it.

Are you having family problems or something? You have been real pissie lately.

Maybe he thought someone had tested it? Someone that tracked it to if it helped increase traffic and sales.

      To the OP...

I don't have one because everyone I have written sounded crappy. I paid to have one done but since they don't know me it was crappy too. So I leave them out of my books and off my sites.

I know other marketers who use them to mention other products and their accomplishments. They say it increases sales/traffic, for them.

If you put one in, it can't really hurt. Unless it's poorly written.

LOL... No, not at all. Just being real man! People focus on the wrong things and never further their business. If this guy or any person I "get pissie" with realizes that and moves in a forward direction to actually build the business they want then that's a good thing.

Maybe he thought someone had tested it? Someone that tracked it to if it helped increase traffic and sales.
What someone else tests will not have the same desired results as we are all individuals with different experiences, successes and failures. A marketer that has been around for a while and making a full time income online will have a much different "About Author" story than someone who is just starting out.

Therefore a much different result stemming from those types of pages.

End result... instead of asking just go do it and see for yourself. Have the b@lls to go test things out and see what it does for your business.

I'm not being mean... I'm being real and trying to kick people's proverbial a$$es into motion to get results and then making informed decisions based on those results. You can't get that out of any product, you just have to go do it...

The faster a person realizes that and just goes out and gets things done is the type of person who will be successful. They won't be afraid to try new things and end up furthering their business, life and income as a direct result of "digging in and getting dirty".....

A/B split testing shows not including them decreases profits and cause cancer 90% of the time... your call.

(Not being mean bud but you're really over thinking it. If this is whats stopping you or even holding you back... it's a waste of time. Just move forward)

You would be crazy not to do an "About The Author" page. It's the perfect opportunity and place to build fans and link them to your website/blog/social media.

      Thanks everyone

I don't exactly have much of a web presence yet (working on my site though) and I'm hoping to release the book ASAP.

If you include it, just talk about who you are and not fluff things up. As far as a web presence, I can think of some Warriors who literally exploded onto the scene in a year or less (icun aka Martin and Russ Ruffino come to mind). It's what you have that can help others that make it valuable, just my opinion.

This is such a great thought (simple, but profound). I re-worded it and expanded it a little bit for myself, and wrote it down.

I love "about author" pages, especially when they are just as long or longer than the actual content of the ebook.
