This doesn't make sense to me

Something really doesn't make sense to me. I have never met or heard of an individual who is only doing affiliate marketing and is successful. Everyone I have met or know has own products. Do the extremely successful affiliate marketers really exist or is the money only in creating products?

    There are people that are doing extremely well with just affiliate marketing. I know of one person that I follow that cleared $8k last month through affiliate marketing.

    Now for me I would consider that successful. Success can vary depending on your view point. Some people consider clearing $1k a month to be a success. Others are looking for much more.

      Most people don't really realize is that these guys and ladies spent money on ads too.

      If you see someone made $8K last month, know that it is very possible that they spent anywhere between $2,000-$4,000 on ads.

      He or she may have spent $0 and got it all from reviews that they wrote on those products. Their pages may have gotten top search engine results.

        This is true.

        I know some of the income went to outsourcing for more content. This person does not do ads. They rely on search engine traffic and making sure that they are going for keywords that they can rank for.

    If you get very good with affiliate marketing you can earn 5 or 6 figures. Which is really huge money and if you want to make 7 figures you will need to launch your own products, but don't worry about that now. You can make a living from affiliate marketing.

      Sorry, but there is no "ceiling" on making money through affiliate marketing. If you can make a 5 or 6 figure income then you can obviously afford to scale that to make as much money as you want.

      Most people who do, are more than satisfied with just doing affiliate marketing, and don't need nor want the hassle of their own product.

    If you're talking about affiliate marketing without having a site and just buying ads and direct linking, then it's not like the good ol' days of "Google Cashing". Then again, there could be some people that do well still. I do see very large media buys on sites like weather.com for offers that are CPA offers. But that takes a big budget.

    I think if you want to make money mainly as an affiliate you should at least have a freebie offer to build a list. That's where the big paydays come.

    Affiliate marketing is still here to stay, but you should know that after dominating a method, moving on to another one to maximize the number of income sources is probably the best option.

    I know more than a few people that make more than enough money just through affiliate marketing.. You don't need to be a vendor or sell your own stuff to be successful (but it is a good idea to be involved in both).

    Selling other people's products has it's pro's and con's, one pro for example is you don't have to deal with customer support. It depends on which way you wanna go with it.. but affiliate marketing (selling other people's stuff) is definitely effective on it's own.

    There are many super affiliates that do well...Well enough that they don't need to work at their jobs anymore (although many hold on due to benefits and other fringe benefits )

    Typically over their IM life, as they gain experience, these "super affiliates" take the plunge and develop their own product service for others to promote.

    It's just a way of diversifying their income streams...by having their hands in many different pots, they minimize risks as markets (and search engines) change over time....just makes good business sense!

    Many of us here are successful, full-time affiliate marketers without any products of our own.
