Finding Quality Domains (Help Needed)

Anyone have any advice or tips for finding domain names?

Naming or finding domains is one of the most difficult parts of the equation (in my opinion).

Your insights will be greatly appreciated!

To put it bluntly this question is too broad.

If you're targeting a niche product then a product name keyword may be the best thing. If writing a blog, a first and last name or business entity name will suffice. It depends entirely on what your goals are for the domain

One thing to keep in mind if you're searching for exact match domains is that Google recently devalued them somewhat unless the site is very high quality (supposedly). And if your site is very high quality, then it probably won't matter much what the name is as long as it's easy to remember. Therefore, if you want hotrodcars.com because it gets a lot of searches, you can probably go with something else that doesn't get a lot of searchers but will be identifiable and relatively easy to remember, like coolhotrodders.com. (I have no idea about actual search volumes for that market. Just giving an example.)

I heard about this and own several EMDs myself, one got hit way before I even heard about this. Another is slowly ranking higher and higher and is only a few months old. Go figure!

Is there any difference in the quality of the sites or other factors like backlinks and social media exposure, etc.?

For this one I've been using the same method I always use and went from nowhere to page 24 and now sitting at page 15 after about a day or two. These aren't the greatest rankings but the trend is up and moving along

My guess is the one that is ranking well has had no offsite SEO performed on it - yes?

I created the software dnfinder.com to help with this just check out the tutorials. It's still in BETA, but should help you out. Use the custom word tool.

For example, put this in the script part...

    (D{P[Colors]})(C{W[software,soft]})(E{T[com]})

This will find all color combinations with software or soft .com

You can change it around however you like.

Always go for what you like and creativity.

Your domain doesn't necessarily have to have keywords in it to succeed.

Remember that. I have seen some ridiculous domain names just to have that keyword. Smh

The only really important part of a domain name is that it is memorable. The search engines don't index by domain name. And most people click on links instead of typing in domain names. So as long as it is appropriate for your use and it is memorable you should be fine. As for checking domain names I use a free program called whois ultra from AnalogX. It will do a search on a list you input and also search for a bunch of variations as well, then give you a list of what has been registered and what has not.

Capitalize on domains that are very memorable, catchy, widely searched, and is in a unique and non-competitive niche for starters.
