Default New to Forum Basic Question

I am new to the Warrior Forum scene and have many questions, but just one big one to start off with. I have a site that I have been using to sell nail aprons since the late 90's. I do not sell many nail aprons on it, but I have managed to get myself onto the first page for a couple of search topics on Google. With this being said do you believe that I could make some money using adsense on my site?

Thanks,

Paul

Being #1 on Google is great, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get tons of traffic. In order to make ANY money with Adsense you'll need a steady stream of traffic and hope that the visitors will click on your ads.

The people that are making good money with Adsense are the people that get hundreds of visitors a day.

So yes you can throw some adsense ads on the site, but have a plan in place to drive traffic so that you can increase your chances of clicks. I hope that helps.

Have you done some good keyword research? Maybe there are ways (probably are) you could increase your current traffic quite a bit.

Paul, as far as Adsense is concerned, the first thing you need to check is how much the main keyword is paid for by the advertisers. Several IMers believe that you get approximately 40% of the amount paid by the advertisers.

Now you need to see whether the Above amount is more or less than your current earning from this site. For example for the keyword "nail aprons", the advertisers are paying $0.56 - $0.76 for the top three spot.

Lets half that amount since the running rate for content based ads is usually half of those displayed in search results. So you'll get 40% of $0.28 - $0.38.
That's approximately 40% of $0.35 = $0.14

That's the amount you gonna make for 1 click. You have NOT given any stats related to your website such as page views and the total Number of pages. Lets say the page views are 5000/month and assuming a decent click through rate of 10%, you gonna make 0.14*5000*10 = $70/month.

Of course the above calculation is approximate but the point here is that this is how you need to decide whether replacing product buy links with adsense is worth it or not.
