Brilliant Marketing Tactics

Hey warriors,

I am a huge fan of the UFC and they seem to have pretty
good marketing as well. The UFC has partnered with
FOX networks . They tend to offer "freebies" or a "free" event
that costs nothing to watch. In their free event, they give a taste
of what the ufc has to offer.

While watching this "freebie" we get a taste and feel for
the quality, we can expect from these people and then
they start promoting their paid event(s) (PPVs).

This works quite well in our marketing world, offer a freebie...give a sample.
Get people to experience what kind of quality information/education you have to offer and then promote your paid stuff.

By doing this the barrier is broken and the potential customers are much more open to buy something from you.

The ufc seems to have 1 free event, almost monthly and they simply push their,
paid events (once a month) in these "freebies"

This tactic has been working , very well for this company and has brought them millions of new fans/customers

When I was a kid, I used to like to watch professional wrestling. They did the same thing, only this was before the days of PPV. Leaving aside the fact that it's all fake, they would have free matches on TV to set up the live ones at venues like Madison Square Garden. Of course, then with the live matches they'd usually have some inconclusive result (draw or disqualification) to set up a rematch which would be something like a "steel cage" match or something dramatic like that.

I suspect some of these shenanigans are done with pro boxing as well, though I'm not sure about UFC. I guess there is an analogy with marketing in giving people free products to make them want the paid ones. Then there are the OTOs, and later on, the even more amazing program that leaves the original one in the dust.
