Hey everyone, I am thinking about taking my existing blog and making it (at least partly) into a premium blog where people have to pay monthly for the content to read it. But I have a couple questions.

1. Is this even a good idea for a blog that is not that popular yet? I am only getting between 50 and a couple hundred people daily to it.

2. Should I do monthly, or just per post?

3. And what pricing would you recommend?

Thanks

    Hi,

As someone that has seen pretty good success with my own blog recently (check it out for earnings reports) I would urge you to keep it open and keep providing high quality content free of charge to build an audience,

Perhaps when you have a bigger audience you could approach the premium content arena - but get yourself an audience first

Nothing wrong with offering a paid area. You never know, those 50 may have 25 interested enough to buy in. One thing is for sure .. if you don't offer you will never know.

I would suggest always keeping an informative free section.

Do not go with paid area if those are just posts people have to pay to read, I doubt anyone will pay for something like that when there are so much information publicly available. Providing a membership site where people pay for some exclusive stuff, even if it's only information, is other story.

So you are saying you would not pay for a post explaining a list building platform that produces 300 or better sign ups a day? How about a traffic method that brings 2500 free targeted visitors a day to the main money site? If either of those methods I use are found free online .. I would like to see them for the fact many have paid $3000 and up to gain that info.

It's a good way to run your readers off. You don't have enough traffic for a paid blog, IMO. I think you'd need a much more popular blog before considering it. Monetize the traffic you do have and build your traffic instead of putting roadblocks in their way.

The paid section would have to be pretty darn good and valuable, IMO! Test it out and see how people respond. Works well? Expand. Bad response? Retool and tweak. Good luck!
