Google Trends for your Kindle ebook topics??

We have a ton of Kindle students and the #1 question that we get asked is....

"What should I write about?" I'll admit, it's a tough question. However, we've discovered that good old Google saves the day (again). Google Trends is a great source for many things but, especially, hot book topics. It's a direct (and often overlooked) tool for what's on trend with consumers via, of course, search. Whether you're searching from scratch or simply validating, it works well.

So, a couple questions for my fellow Kindle Warriors:

-How do you discover & develop book topics to publish?
-Have you used Google Trends?

Thanks!

Yahoo Buzz was one of the first places I saw some of this data in terms of trends.

However, Wordtracker was the standard for awhile: They have a free tool you can check out.

Another great resource is microsoft adlabs which has various tools you can take advantage of.

Finally, check out SEO Digger for some good data too.

I've used Google Trends and it's definitely a great tool for hot book ideas to create books on.

One suggestion that I'll give is to look at all of the different print magazines that are selling and write around those topics. If a print magazine has been around for awhile, you can bet that it's a profitable topic and depending on the topic, some will be perfect for the Kindle.

Google Trends as most of you know has changed a lot since this suggestion was made. We can suggest our annual hot ebook niches of 2013 which is part of the www.EbookHowTo.org eBook marketing System - Part of the system includes a proprietary customized list that is full of great ideas. The list is updated monthly and extensively researched using lots of tools as well as Google Keyword tool cross checking long tail keywords and search traffic volumes. The program also suggests that you check to see how many titles are on Amazon and then cross check search volume. Anyway, check that resource out.
