Contact form "Cold Call"

What is the best way to solicit your product when filling out a potential customer''s contact form?

I am a dentist and I sell a physical book for dentists.

I posted a thread here about getting mailing lists, and one suggestion was to simply go to websites of dentists and make my pitch via the contact form.

What is the best approach for this type of marketing? I know I have to be brief, and I know I want to "solve their problem". But how do I tell a fellow dentist:

"Hi. I'm a Harvard-educated dentist and the owner of a web development and seo firm for dentists and physicians, and I wanted to let you know that your website stinks and is probably costing you new patients every day.

My book, The Web Design Workbook for Dentists" will help you with a top level overview of what you need to do to have a website that doesn't stink. It's not a how-to guide and I don't expect you to build your website yourself. Rather, this book will guide you through the process of making sure that whoever you hire to redo your website and your SEO, does it properly.

You can visit my website at www... and you can download a sample of the table of contents and introduction for free. And if you choose to purchase the book, you can use the coupon code "take30" to save 30% off the listed price.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I wish you the best of luck with your practice!

Will ANYONE read that? Will it make it past the screening secretary?

Does the subject need to be "Is your practice website costing you patients?"

Thanks for any advice -- I've never approached contact forms before.

I was the "screening secretary" in a medical office for many years, and unfortunately I can't see that making it through. I'm sure you understand that with all the spam offices get now through yellowpages and locums it's hard to sift through to find the legit stuff.

Are you able to make a quick call to the office first and say something along the lines of "I don't want to take your time, this is who I am, this is what I'm doing, I'm sending an email your way if you're interested"? While that's costly in time, it would most likely net you more offices.

Hope you do well, sounds like such a great idea, medical/dental offices have the worst time making good websites!

Theres a WSO called Offline EZ mail which teaches the strategies you are looking for IMHO (In my humble opinion).

He goes over all the CANSPAM laws and what is required.

He also explains traditional emailing and repetition. You do not necessarily need to use the form.

It might be worth it for you to learn the strategy plus know the rules. Bruce is a really nice guy will answer all your questions.

Good luck I'm sure you have a wonderful product there.

P.S. *the url is above, this will also solve your subject line problems. This WSO is about emailing first, then talking on the phone, if you want the best advice on cold calling then look up a gent named Jason Kanigan, his nick is kaniganj. If you can search on here just use his nick and you'll run into all kinds of good advice and good news re cold calling. He also has 1 on 1 coaching which is pricy but I hear it is well worth it.

I am not sure about the best subject line except to make sure it doesn't sound too salesy or they probably wont open it. Instead of e-mail lists, I don't trust them myself, go to the good old Yellow Pages. Always leave a phone number in your contact information. MAybe a good subject to test, and this may be a bit cheezy, "From one Dentist to Another", "Dentists Helping Dentists", "Helping my Fellow Dentists"

DO YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TEXT GETTING GARBLED UP? Sorry my uppercase button was stuck on. Some people say don't use them because of that. I actually have a software that finds them I never used it.

Would you mind sharing who you outsourced your marketing to? I want to outsource mine too.
