How Do I Host and Embed My Videos?

I have never had a video sales page, so I am very confused. Any help in this matter will be much appreciated.

Recently, I have constructed a website and produced nine videos, which I want to put on the website. I am then going to send a lot of traffic to the website and hopefully get a lot of video views.

The file type of the videos is WMV. They are of 720p HD quality, and their total file size is just under 1.5 GB. I want the videos to be compatible with as many visitors as possible, and I don't want them to stop to buffer every few seconds. I also don't want to pay heaps of cash for video hosting.

Keeping the above in mind, what are my options? What exactly must I do?

From what I understand, my best option is to host the videos on Amazon S3 and embed them on my website after installing a player of some sort on my server. Is that correct?

Shall I convert the videos into Flash files? Wouldn't it be very expensive to host nine HD videos on Amazon S3?

Can't I just throw the videos on YouTube and embed them on my Web pages? Why would doing so be a bad idea?

As you can probably tell, I am totally lost. Please help!

Usually I see youTube as the preferred host but I know a couple of high traffic sites that use SproutVideo - Video Hosting and Streaming for Businesses

Seems to be legit and have some nice features. Never personally tested them out myself though.

why wouldn't you put them on youtube where you could generate traffic there as well? Then just embed them on your site.

The size is a little large. I would probably convert them to mp4 but I don't know how long each one is. If they are short they are too large in size.

The reason for using Amazon and paid version of Vimeo is to get rid of those 'related video' thumbnails from competitors. There are ways to at least get rid of them on the embedded version on your site but of course not on youtube itself.

Whether this is important depends a lot on the niche.

Sounds like you are pretty new to this. In that case, just upload them to Youtube and at least get them up somewhere. Later on you can work on getting them onto S3, important thing now is to get them on the site and getting views. Focus on progression, not perfection.

Work on getting the small sizes to be smaller and upload them to youtube or vimeo. By doing so you kill two birds in one stone and you don't have to pay for video hosting and you may be able to get some good traffic if you optimize your videos well.

    Just my thoughts

The only reason I wouldn't host a video on YouTube was if I was charging money for the video, in which case I would use S3.

I thank you all very much for your replies!

For now, I will upload the videos to YouTube. Then, I will look into Amazon S3.

Is the following what I must do?

      1. Convert the videos to Flash.
      2. Upload them to Amazon S3.
      3. Install a Flash player on my server.
      4. Embed the videos on my Web pages.

If so, is Amazon's CloudFront thingy necessary?

And what Flash player should I use?

Hello, I know how it is to be new to something and people use terms that you just do not understand even thou it is very basic. Let me just what the others are saying too. Upload to yourtube. Then when you view your video, under the screen you will see a button called "share". Click the button and now you will see a new button called "embed" Just copy that code to your web page or site. You are done.

One other item to consider is to select the size of the video at the bottom.

The good thing about using youtube is it does not take up your server space to host the file. Also you can upload in several different formats to yourtube and they convert for you.

I hope this helps and answers your question.

    Best Regards

It shouldn't be that expensive to host those 9 videos. I have over 70 videos on 1 of my sites and i haven't paid more than $30 a month in any given month so far. I utilize EVP(Easy Video Player) and S3.

Yes you can just throw the videos on YouTube and embed them on your webpages...that would be one of the fastest and most easiest way BUT,
there are disadvantages as well since you are hosting on Youtube's(Free) servers.

It's way too easier for you if you host your videos on YouTube. You can utilize the embed code afterwards on any salespage, blog, or any website.

I used wistia - gives you analysis of how long people are watching your video. Two vids are free. It gives you an embed code.

Otherwise do it in YouTube. Dont forget to keyword research for your video title.
