Can't speak for the other methods mentioned, but using flyers to promote a website has worked for a friend of mine. Depends on where you use them and how many of course, but it can give you traffic, at least short term. (I'm not familiar with what a GPT site is?)

HI,

The best advertising dollar per dollar so far was press releases, using such services as PRWEB. If/when a PR is well done, it can get picked up by local old media and various outlets that gives even more exposure.

Success,
Sam

I definiitely agree with Sam. PRWeb is powerful. BTW, I've been noticing TV and radio ads for websites in my area (I'm near NYC). The other day I heard a URL on a news radio ad and I visited out of curiousity and it was an affiliate site!

Offline advertising for an online business can be tricky. You need to really know why you are advertising offline. Also, will all of the different methods you can spend a lot of time, effort and money on something that doesn't work.

The best way to advertising offline is by using only leveraged practices. This includes remant buys on radio, TV and magazines. Off the beaten path billboards, etc. But walking down the road passing out flyers seems like a lot of time for little return - no leverage.
