Should You Make a List for Your Content Writing Clients?

Hi. I was just sitting here and I had an interesting thought and I thought I would share it with everyone here.

I have been working as a freelance content writer for a long time now but most of my clients only want a handful of articles and it is hard to land a long term client.

So I figured instead of having to dig through my inbox and follow up on old clients I will just ask all of my future clients if they would like to join my email list.

Why would this help me?

Well, I figured it will be easier to keep track of who I worked for and I will be able to advertise discounts and other promotions related to my writing service to the people on the list.

It seems like it would be a simple way to organize all of my clients and follow up on them without having to dig through my inbox and email each client separately to find out if they need more articles.

So I would just like to hear your opinion on this idea.

Do you add your clients to a mailing list?

And if you do...

How is that working out for you?

Thanks.

    Hi,

Yes, this idea actually works. I used to do that during my article writing days. I din't buy an autoresponder. I just created the contact list in my gmail, and whenever I have new services or discounts, I'll send them a mail. I use Bcc so they don't see each other's email addresses.

My clients actually appreciated the heads up. So, yeah, it works really well.

    Thanks.

Okay I just did that as well. Seems to be more convenient than setting up a autoresponder anyways. There's really nothing I can market to people who want my writing service other than my writing service so a autoresponder seems pointless for clients.
