How best to grow a make mney online website

I have a question for you and would love some help with it. I make some money here and there with affiliates etc. But I've just built a website for a good friend who has been making a fair amount of money by spreadbetting using friends and 'friends of friends' as his customers.
The reason why this works is because he's guaranteed to make money by bringing about a great return on a small investment. But it only tends to work (so far) because of the recommendations of friends! That's why I built him the site, after a while you will tend to exhaust the amount of friends you can do this for! It's a one time deal basically taking advantage of free bets offered by bookmakers. He then lays off against these free bets with his/customers money and rinses and repeats.
The upshot is you start with £200 as a pot, within 5 weeks that pot has become approx £850 and he asks for a 10% cut of the total (for advising on where to place bets etc) So the customer is left with total profit of about £500-550 in their pocket.
For anyone that they then go on to recommend who also carry out the system they get an extra £25.
This system is guaranteed, he even promises to cover and money that they feel they may lose!
Si I'm trying to get this to take off by using facebook. I have a website, fanpage and twitter & whenever someone joins it posts on their wall for friends to see and we ask them to leave a review.
My questions are, how do you get something like this out there? some people seem to think it's' too good to be true ' How do you convince them to take action?
How is best to promote this? Free traffic etc?
