It sounds off that the experiment would effect the affiliate links. I don't understand why that would be happening and it shouldn't be. Are you sure it's the cause. The links were working fine beforehand? What url do the affiliate links go to now? It could also be an issue with the website of the actual product you are sending people to or even Clickbank. It depends what link is showing on your page now as to who is causing the issue.

Based on what you have written above, the hoplinkcode is still in the url so technically it should work fine.

I'm still a little confused as to what you are trying to do though.

Where do you need the hoplink to display and which link is going to a 404 error?

Use your own script that doesn't mess with the hoplinks to do the experiment.

Hoplinks are supposed to go to one page only, but once the hop is executed you can then run php and send them to the new page, or divert the visitors 50/50, whatever. It's not hard to code.

Is the vendor's link still good? Check that.

You can run a php script ahead of the page load, and if the traffic is from google, you can take the chosen action.

Or you can set it up inside of the htaccess to look for the hoplink in the url, and if the hoplink variable exists, send them to the main page, and if the hoplink variable does not exist, send them to another page.

To answer WillR, I suspect you are trying to split-test your sales page?
