What was your first sale like?

I'm curious about this and I feel like everyone should post.

Experienced warriors probably has forgotten already how hard it is for a newbie. But i'm sure that everyone remembers their first sale.

I can earn on other channels online -like services and the like. But as a newbie warrior, I have never made my first sale. Yet.

For the benefit of the newbies and everyone else, I think this would provide massive insight if everyone just tried to describe their first one.

My questions are,

1. How long did it take you to make it? The very first one. Honest answers. We are not on an ego contest here. Just a simple poll.
2. What did you do differently? What is the key? I'm sure you can scale it but what's it's like to discover it. Or was it a natural consequence of the accumulation of skill and experience building up? This I think is more like it right?

I'm a pretty fast tech guy. I can stay glued to a computer and absorb knowledge like a big sponge. I have everything I need. The only issue is choosing which course of action to take. Coz it could get overwhelming or confusing sometimes.

Now, I notice that even I, a guy versed with computers is having a hard time breaking through. I feel for the newbies coz I know they're going through the same thing and some of them would be overwhelmed just by looking at the buttons on MS WORD.

I so feel for them. I think it's a matter of keeping on, trying things out and never giving up. No matter how hard.

I mean, was it list building? was it the seo or the site? or the ppc? or the content? What clicked for you?

I would definitely listen to people with experience on this one. I bet it would be very enlightening.

    Whew!

Heading back in time for this - about 15 years.

I just got started online and I was selling my public speaking product.

    Site setup.

    Product created.

And I knew nothing about traffic so I rented a list for $2,500.

On the day they email went out my domain expired!! I had no clue about such things!

Fortunately, the list owner ran the solo again for me. Phew!

But when that first sale came through I knew this whole internet fad was going to be a good place for me.

    Hey Bri777,

It was approx 6 months...but the nice thing was, it was a pretty large affiliate sale...so it inspired me to do more of it.

Sure, its hard...but that's good, because if it was easy, everyone would do it! The key areas for Newbies to learn are about planning, goal setting, action taking & perseverance...

    ...without them, you are hosed...

Wow. six months and here I am just one month in and moaning. lol

mind you i've been on it 4 weeks straight and I have a gray hat background I'm a party guy, but recently I rarely left the house to RAM this-all out. Ram my head I soo did. Currently working on list building.

I totally agree. Thanks for the advice.

So you did it with your own product. cool.

ps relaxation and taking breaks - I figured, are mandatory, not optional.

Yes to be fair, I did finish writing a book in that time in the parenting niche...so my eye was elsewhere really...

        However, fact remains...it takes time...

I made my first sale using Bum Marketing. The first sale was from Clickbank. It took about a week after I set the ad up on US Free Ads. This method worked really well for a while. But, I think it became oversaturated.

    Hi B!

Since it just expired it was easy getting it back. But I was scared, not knowing how anything worked back then. This was also in the $70 per domain days.

    hey Bri777,

I remember my first sale like it was yesterday... and since I can't remember what I did yesterday it might as well be!

I bought a clickbank course called Profit Instruments (Clickbank niche sites). It was the first time I went through a course hardcore and just did everything exactly as I was supposed to. After a month, or perhaps a month and a half, I got my first sale!!!

I didn't even realise until I noticed my Paypal account had money it it!

I did a little dance and I knew this whole IM thing was for real.

Unfortunately, the company that i was promoting went bad and oh well...

Just stick to one thing, do the basics, and you'll eventually make headway...

    Best of luck friend!

I will never forget my first sale.

It was for a Commission Junction financial product and made me just under $300 ... I was both estatic and hooked.

Cool man. I think all we determined newbies need is a tiny bit of evidence of rewarded hard work and we're gonna blast through the stratosphere.

First sale? about 5 months after I start IM...

However I did forget my first sale...why?

Because what I had in my had is :"money, now now now" so that one sale wasn't "enough".

Looking back though, that one sale lade to another and then I started to understand what "cause and effect" means.

The key was FOCUS - Follow One Course Until Successful

It was a very pleasant surprise that came about a decade ago...
It shocked me how easily it went through and new sales followed.

But then it was far easier to SEO and optimize for sales and the competition was far weaker.
