Hi All, Am I wasting my time and money with Article Marketer. Am I better off to cancel Article Marketer and manually submit to a handful of article directories like ezinearticles, goarticles, etc.. Even though with Article Marketer my articles get picked up by hundreds of directories, are the backlinks I'm getting from them worth anything. At least I know the top directories like ezinearticles have very high page ranks, but all these others that I've never heard of could be fly by night directories. Thanks, Jeff Sargent |

The backlinks definitely do worth something, it's a matter how you channel the link juice to your site. What is it that you wish to achieve with article marketing? Sales or SEO? |

Talking about submission, the link juice that you get from other directories is definitely worth it although the traffic primarily comes from EZA and Goarticles. In case you're thinking of canceling Article Marketer then you can hire someone from Elance for manual submission. For $50 you can easily get somebody to do 500 directory submissions for 5 articles. Generally speaking it is better to stay away from automated software, but you'd have to ask someone else, because I am not a specialist in this field... |

If you are wanting to mass submit articles, then why not buy Article Post Robot. It can even spin a new version, title and resource box for each directory, or you can get it to choose a random article from a folder on your local machine. You can set the time frame for it to submit. I submit manually at the minute but have used this. For what it does I would imagine that it's probably the best on the market. |

Any auto software I'm finding not to be worth it, kind of saddening after how I attempted to submit my site using socialbot the URL got banned from digg. But it's V4.0 so maybe the kinks are being worked out. |

I guess I must have worded my question wrong because two people said I was complaining. That wasn't my intent. To howudoin, I'm not complaining about anything. I am merely asking if there is a need to submit to so many articles directories or can I get the same results just by sumitting to the top 5. I'm not concerned about the effort. I'm not afraid of hard work. It appears from the contact I've had with other marketers that when ever they talk about article marketing they only mention a few directories, mainly Ezine Articles and GoArticles. That's why I was questioning whether or not I needed to be submitting to so many directories. It had nothing to do with the amount of work it took to get my articles out there. To penmawr, I haven't been doing as you say here. I was only using relevant keywords embedded in my articles. From what you're saying here I should be using the exact same relevant keywords on my website that I'm using in my articles. That makes perfect sense to me now. Thanks for your comments, Jeff Sargent |

We used to use article marketer but stopped as the system kept rejecting our articles due to errors. It took more time to submit to the software than to submit ourselves. There are only a few top article directories you should worry about. You can use isnare.com for the rest of them. To get more traffic to your blog: 1. Write consistently 2. Participate in social media sites such as twitter and provide useful info and tips. Don't self-promote. 3. Leave comments on other people's blogs in your same niche. 4. Talk about other bloggers on your blog. (hopefully favorably) Much more but the above is great to start. Nicole |

From my personal experience, submitting to the top 5 or so has the most effect... Without a doubt submitting to hundreds of directories will have an effect, but not a big one. Why not test both techniques with a similar project and similar articles targetting the same keywords, then compare the results?

Human submitters are far more effective. The Elance suggestion is the best. BTW, my blog is all Elance all day so I'm biased. But I'm biased because it works. J. Smith Adams Elance Money Secrets |

I believe quality as opposed to quantity is the best approach to this and to most things associated with SEO I think its all down to ROI. Its possible that being associated with some "low grade" directories may even be counter productive? |

as far as i know.. with article marketing the benefits are residual and long term in nature... so i would suggest you keep doing the stuff as outlined by other warriors and see how things move on in a longer span of time...

All this automation crap reminds me of the FFA (Free For All Ad Boards) that were popular and very effective about 15 to 17 years ago. They quickly became useless and defunct after FFA Autosubmitters hit the market. Marketing is and always has been about LIVE PEOPLE. Few people spend time browsing article sites. Start posting article snippets to topic related blogs, forums and message boards. Manually submit them to the very highest ranking article directories. Then point the forum, blog and message board readers to your full article on the those directories. The Benefits... You get notoriety for posting helpful content to the people you are targeting. You escape the "shotgun" mentality of throwing crap against the wall and hoping some of it sticks. You get fewer but more highly motivated visitors to your blog. Autosubmitters, article spinners and other "clever" technology are designed to serve the marketer - not the market (aka; People).

Thank You all for your comments. I believe I have decided to manually submit to the top 5 article directories instead of using an automated submitter to hundreds of directories. Most of my traffic is coming from ezine articles so I'll just continue to submit to them and 4 more good ones. Thanks again for your support, Jeff Sargent |

Auto submission has taken my eye off the ball and I've only been in the game 2 seconds! I spent 2 hours today auto submitting one article to 70 sites. Most of the auto submissions had to be re done because the program put the article in the wrong category. And it makes sense to have quality over quantity. It's bloody obvious in fact! I'll set my immediate article marketing to the top 5 or 10 directories and all will be done manually.

You can just rule out the AM linkback. I believe they are going to do you some good. My advice is not to pay for article service when you can submit them for FREE.

I use articlemarketer and isnare and manually submit to ezinearticles. My articles are well written and interesting. I use the keyword phrase I'm aiming to rank for in the title and ...well I started another thread here that goes over how effective article marketing and what I did to get a brand new site on the first page of google. Yes, Article marketing really works. Dee |

There are basically two strategies when it comes to article marketing: some people prefer to go for an open list of article directories, regardless of their quality, using autosubmitters and/or spinners (the manual way is way too tedious), others try to write decent content and submit it to a small number of respectable directories. I would choose the second option, which is the only acceptable way especially if your primary purpose is gaining traffic. |

Some users here mentioned isnare. Personally, I would NOT recommend it. From my experience, its customer service is crap. just my two cents. |

From my experience it's always better to submit the articles manually. And not just articles, everything on the internet should be done manually. I know that some work can be tedious, but you'll be much better off if you do the work all by yourself, or by hiring someone |

It seems as though most are recommending submitting good quality articles(which I'd like to think I do anyway), manually as opposed to using autosubmitters. I've been out of touch for about two weeks now but I'm back on track and will be ramping it up again starting tomorrow. I've already canceled Article Marketer and will be submitting everything manually. I want to make one thing clear about Article Marketer. I shouldn't have used their name here instead should have just made mention I was using article submitter software. The other thing is that I'm not knocking their service. I think they have a great product and I never had any trouble with them. I just think at this time it's not for me and I'll be using other methods. Sorry if I offended anyone. Thanks to everyone here for your comments, Jeff Sargent |

There are a number of article marketing strategies available, and which one to use depends largely on the goals of the person using them. Sometimes auto-submission works well and sometimes it doesn't. Just like one type of article may work for one purpose but not for another. The best we can do is continually test new strategies and measure the results. In doing so, it is much easier to find the strategy that works for our individual purpose or project. |
