One of my "boses" at my job asked me for a connection. So I checked and he is one of my 3rd level connections. I don't want him for a 1st level direct connection and I don't even want him for a 3rd level. Is way I can remove him?

If I do something on linked in, can he see it or is that reserved for 1st level connections only.

Thank you.

Actually, you're wrong. And I have the research to prove it:

As far as I know there is nothing that you can do to prevent a specific individual from being connected to you at the 2nd or 3rd level, other than not connecting to the person(s) who connect you to them. In other words if you as A are connected to B and B is connected to C (C being your boss) if you terminate your connection to B you will not have C at the second level. That said, the world is smaller than you think, and you might find you have to remove a number of first level connections to distance yourself.

Can a second or third connection see what you post on your main page or is that only for your first connections.

Is there a way to set things so that only your first connections see them. I ask since two of the managers I work for are somehow second and third connections and I don't want them to know I am trying to market on LinkedIn.

Anyone can see what you are doing on Linkedin if they are a premium member. They do not have to be connected with you at any level unless you set your settings to only allow 1st level connections and then that will defeat the purpose of Linkedin.

If I knew your name, I could look you up right now and read all about you. The only thing not visible to the general public is your updates. Only your first level connections see them.

If you are a premium member, you can look at my profile Linkedin/in/MoGoulet

        Hope this helps...

blueonblue, I was expecting such an answer, but I couldn t help it. I find the situation funny. I know it s not very helpful in this case.

But don't take it wrong, whenever I can offer value, I do.

I just had a good laugh when I read your post. It's not forbidden is it?
I didn t mean to offend you.

    Case closed for me.
    Have a good day!

    1. Log into your LinkedIn Account

    2. Top righ hover over your name and click on "Settings"

    3. Near the bottom left click on "Profile" (If not already active)

    4. Click on "Select who can see your activity feed"

    5. Choose "Your Connections" from the dropdown list. This will only allow your 1st degree connections to see your activity.

This is the best you're going to be able to do. It should prevent most of what you're asking.

Hope that helps...if you have any other LinkedIn questions, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Eric

I think there is no way to change it. Also, be careful when rejecting. Rejecting a persons request at least USED to make it hard for them in the future. Link in wanted to be the google of business relationships, and a key part of their business model is spidering relationships. Obviously, someone you know knows someone that knows your boss, and they are all on linkedin.
