Can someone whos had experience with a huge launch, with tons of jvs promoting, chime in here? Im expecting to be launching my product soon enough, but I need to know what sort of hosting setup will i need. I have a few gb of downloadable content for buyers upon purchase. Im currently on hostgator with a baby plan, but im not so sure if that will be adequate enough. I can ill afford to have any sort of server crash like the gurus who can afford to absorb such a fiasco on launch day so id like to make sure i'm as straight as possible with zero hicupps before then. Does anyone have any ideas as to how i can avoid problems before then? Thanks. |

First, you have to define "big". A thousand visitors? A hundred-thousand? A few million? If you have lots of JV partners with huge lists, you'll need to set up a dedicated server. Also get an Amazon S3 account to host your downloads. This will keep the bulk of bandwidth off your server, letting your server handle the basic visitor bandwidth. An S3 account is very inexpensive, and provides extremely reliable and FAST data streams. |
