Has Anyone Ever Heard of Market America MLM ?

My ex gf is really trying to find work and shes been approached by Market America.

She is afraid they're a scam. But -- sometimes I feel bad for MLM -- because I feel that a few of em have given all the rest a bad name.

Anyone heard of this company or know anything about them? Your input would be great.

Thanks

MWM

I've heard of it. It's been around for a few years at least,
maybe a long time. MLM is what it is - but I don't think Market
America is a bad apple as they go.

I just looked at it. Looks like they sell "mall" websites or something.

Internet malls are a bad business model in my opinion unless you
have a lot of capital to advertise and marketing savvy to keep
    customers coming back.

Willie Crawford has an old blog post somewhere about why malls
    don't work out usually.

i agree that these online malls sites are almost good for nothing until you manage and provide real value to the customer...

moreover the most important thing is that if there are similar malls opened the unique proposition is lost somewhere...

i wud suggest to stay away from MLM programs.. most of them (if not all) are just a waste of time and hard earned money...

Is this about internet malls? Or a nutritional supplements?

I came up with two different companies, so I'm asking for more input.

It's funny. I could say the same thing about online marketing.

In fact, I've done both internet marketing and network marketing
and can tell you for a fact that the success rate in each is about
        the same.

Market America also offers the traditional network marketing business model, whereby you share the opportunity with other business builders. The mall is not the only option, and in fact many of the people I know specialize in different areas.

For instance some of the medical professionals I know who work with this company focus on the supplements and wellness items.

From what I can tell, and given the fact I know half a dozen good, ethical people who make money with this program, MA is a legitimate NM program. But I need to temper this by saying I'm not one of their distributors so I don't have intimate knowledge of their program.

    Thanks guys.

My GF does skincare stuff -- but can't find a job

I was thinking she could give free facials (skincare) to people and in exchange promote the MarketAmerica's products if she indeed likes them

This would be for the most part an off-line 'lead'..

I kind of feel bad for MLM programs because everyone seems to rip on them -- as if they're scams.

I dont think it could be a scam and be legal... could it?

I've never heard of Market America, but what about something like Avon? It's a more recognizable brand and she could take a similar approach. I also just saw someone with an Avon booth at our local public market (mostly a farmer's market, but there are a few non-food booths).

MLM seems to require development of leadership skills
beyond the capacity/ambition/interest in growth of
many people. Technical marketing skills are not as
    important in the old-school style.

In Internet marketing there are some people who succeed
by being technically skilled but with very little development
    of leadership or conversation persuasion.

One advantage of doing a "networking" business offline
and locally is you, as the leader, have the influence of
face-to-face friendship and the possible leverage of guilt
to get your salesforce to do the work - thus attrition
is more controllable in the offline, local sales force.

Online, managing a network marketing sales force is
like herding cats - good reason to make sure you recoup
the cost of recruiting on the first sale.

Market America is legit. I stay in the same city as the company. They have a huge huge building with lots of employees.

The founders became very rich and other people that got involved in the company early on are very wealthy as well.

I don't know much about their operation, but just letting you know they are legit and very well established.
