Getting email signups... now what?

I've been giving list building a go... I'm up to just over 100... but... I haven't really done anything with it... other than send out the ocassional offer.... no results.

I know I need to build up a rapport... I'm sure there's a clear blueprint on how to do this... anyone... bueller... bueller

I'm just about to set up a new campaign... I've a free report in the health niche... going to advertise with fb ads...

Once they sign up, I'll do the old OTO.

Now... I've got their email... how many follow ups... what do I say... when to slip an offer in?

I've signed up to many lists, and it seems that its just offer after offer...

Anyway... hope someone can steer me in the right direction

    Hi buddy,

you say that on the lists you've signed up for, it's just offer after offer, which presumably you don't think is ideal!

Why not concentrate on doing some really good research in your niche and offering your list members something - tips, info, whatever - for free a few times in a row.

Then survey them and ask them what it is they'd like to see more of. You can even ask them if they'd be willing to pay for a weight loss poduct (or whatever your niche is), and if so, How Much?

From those that reply, design your next mail shot, which will respond to THEIR suggestions.

Other IMers, much more experienced than me, do exacly this with great results.

Try it. Just don't go straight to the 'sell'. Also, be careful with FB ads. They can cost big time if you don't get it right, and for very little result.

    Hope this helps,

    Paul

To answer your question in a nutshell, set up an autoresponder sequence now before you pay for any advertising.

I advise my peeps to create at minimum a 7 day sequence leading to a paid offer.

So, yes, email every day, but worthless little "click here" type messages is not going to be competitive in this fierce email marketing environment.

Fill it with messages that lead them to another offer, but tell a story as you go - fill their journey with helpful tips, valuable content and products to buy.

An email every now and then is not going to convert those new subscribers into buyers, but what will is sending them a planned out sequence of offers (every new person getting the same messages in the same sequence).

When they buy, move them to another list and repeat the process.

Simple - no, but worth it, heavens yes.

There are a lot of ways to go and everybody has an opinion and a favorite.

The two content-sales-two content-sales-etc. seems to be popular. It depends a lot on your niche.

Some niches I send a lot of free stuff with paid options. Some get straight info. with relevant links in the email footer. Some are a combo.

The only way to know for sure is to test. Go slow and analyze everything.

    Hi!

This is something you can test but I can assure you as a rule of thumb it is better to give quality away for FREE first and then subtly offer affiliate products, your own products and services etc.

There are many ways of promoting without actuallly looking like an over selling run of the mill marketer.

You can create a course that has several days worth of content and direct your subscribers from the emails to a separate page that has the FREE content on there. Either videos or written content.

You can then have subtle links on those pages that have a call to action for someone to click through to a closely related affiliate product.

This way you are allowing your subscribers to see you as someone who is providing FREE high quality information and they are far more likely to trust your affiliate recommendations or indeed if you are offering your own prodcuts and services.

Show them the possibilities first and get them excited about what is in it for them.

Hope these tips help and have a great one!

It's great to send your list the occasional offer but constantly sending them offers can damage your credibility and people will end up unsubscribing from your list.

They are on your list for a reason and instead offer high value information which is interesting and helps with their problems.

Offer them a free giveaway product to keep them active and engaged. You can space your autoresponder series to 3-5 days.

I like to write an email a day.

It only takes about 15 minutes sometimes less but it's worthwhile.

The emails are usually news topical so they cant really be used on an autoresponder, some can but most cant.

I asked a list I had built and they said mine was one of the very few emails they did read which was superb.

I make my own products so the pitch isn't as bad as selling as an affiliate.

there are many strategies and school of thoughts for follow up emails.. but do remember the first few emails conditioned your readers.. if you are going to offer content and content, your readers might just expect content only while if your promote products after products, your readers would know your style and might be irritated. The trick is to get the right balance for your list.

    my 2 cents~

Thanks guys, great advice. I'm going to give the health niche a try.

I bought a health blog a while back, so, I can tidy that up a bit and try paid advertising... it's good to have my health site, makes it look a bit more legit.

While the particular niche I'm targeting in this campaign is very specific... I can easily market other products to any subscribers.

But ye... getting the balance right.

What's recommend for the title of who it's from... my name, my sites name... rob @ www.....
