You see all these big flashy sales letters nowadays with the scroll bar the size of an ant. To me and a lot of other people, this is just a turn off. They're all the same, just flashy graphics and overzealous text.

What I was thinking of doing is something similar to the following.

Hi,

Welcome to me big, flashy sales page. You might be wondering where all the glitz and glamour is. Personally, I don't believe in that stuff. That's for people who need to convince people their product is valuable. I let me product speak for itself. Here's what you'll get.

eBook 1... description... valued at $
eBook 2... description... valued at $
etc

That's over $600 worth of information, folks. You'll have several hundred pages of content to cover, so it's not for the light hearted. But, if you want success in this field, you're going to have to read up.

That's it. No flashy descriptions and graphics. Just plain, straightforward information and the truth.

Something like that. Think there's potential for this to work in the MMO niche?

Absolutely.. then again it depends on who you are targeting. Are these subscribers that have been around the block a couple times or is this a brand new audience that are just starting to look for ways to make money online..

Only way to really know for sure is to test it.

Do you believe this will be enough to justify your price point?

LOL, it's a bit Ocker! Perhaps use "my" instead of "me" .

I agree about most sales pages, 99.99% of them turn me off buying instead of encouraging me to buy. Many of them turn me away before I even see what the product is.

There's no real way to know unless you test both versions against one another.

  • Test it, but keep in mind that even if it works in this case, you shouldn't see it as a universal argument for super-short copy in general. And keep in mind that the length of the ideal copy is often correlated to the price point (higher ticket items usually require a lot more information and persuasion). Just because you don't like a lot of sales copy doesn't mean that it's irrelevant and unnecessary.

Russell hit it on the head for me.. it really depends on who you're marketing to. If you're selling to a list of perpetual buyers who have "seen it all", using a lot of flash might not be of any use. If you're selling to new buyers, though, they're probably more likely to buy with the "backstory", the "here's what you get" "here's what this is not", and the whole spiel.

I think another thing that comes into play is the perception that you give off with a sales page. If you have a lot of nice graphics and it looks like you put some real time and thought into your sales page, I believe people will assume you put as much care and thought into your product.

Seeing a small sales page that looks like it was just "thrown up last minute" might make buyers feel like the entire product is half-heartedly put together as well.
