I'm working on a JV with someone, he creates the product and I do the marketing, and we split the profits.
I'm thinking of selling the product via Clickbank. To simplify the money matters, is there a way to get Clickbank to split the money for us and send us separate checks? So that we don't have to do complicated calculations with Clickbank fees and bank fees etc. For example, say we offer 60% affiliate commissions, so the remaining 40% (after Clickbank fees) is to be split between me and my partner (I get 20%, he gets 20%). Is there a way to configure our Clickbank account so that Clickbank will send a check for 20% to each of our addresses? |

No, I don't think you can do that. The clickbank account will have to be in one persons name, and one of you will have to bank the check. It shouldn't be too complicated to calculate though, all the fees will have been charged by the time one of you has cleared the check in your bank account, so just split the final ammount 50/50 and send the rest to the other partner. If he has to incur a fee to bank his check, then find out what that will be in advance and add 50% of that ammount to the check so you are still getting exactly half each!

To my knowledge, Clickbank does not offer anything like this. Simplest solution is to use the honor system. You collect the money and send your JV partner their share at whatever time intervals (weekly, bi-weekly) you agree upon.
However, your best answer will come directly from Clickbank. Calvin |

Sadly they don't. I wish they would because sometimes a deal cannot be done if there is not enough trust yet, especially when it comes to the "money" part.
I would kill for this feature - I could go out into the real world and broker product deals with offline experts and show them that this is zero risk for them. |

I should also add that it would probably be a good idea if you BOTH have access to the username and password of the Clickbank account you are using, so either of you can login when you want and see when checks have been sent out and for what amount. That way you both have full disclosure over what needs to be split!

ClickBank do not have such a feature.
There is a way of (approximately) doing this however if it's worth your while. Create a separate ClickBank account for each of you, both offering the product. On your sales page rotate the order link between the two accounts so you each receive (approximately) an alternate sale. Harvey |

Thanks for the replies.
I had seen some gurus do joint products (e.g. Jim Edwards and Rosalind Gardner's affiliate blueprint product) and wondered if they had an easy automated way to split the money. I guess not. Quote:

because the cookie will have been set for a particular account. It would need a special affiliate link which performs the switching (which means the product could not be in the Marketplace). Harvey | |

newsecrets it's pretty easy to calculate because they'll just send you a check after all fees and commissions. BOth having the login would go a long ways for the trust factor.
Also, you could do the rotation where once you know how many clicks equals how many sales you could set the rotator to that level. So 100 clicks = 1 sale you could rotate to your account for 100 clicks then your partners. Won't be perfect but as long as you have the logins to both accounts you can see how much the checks going out will be and the rectify any difference owed to one partner. |

I am actually doing this right now with someone, we each have access to the account so he can see when the check has been sent to me.
If you don't have the level of trust with your partner for that sort of arrangement then I would consider whether you should be working together anyway. Good luck with the product Paul |
