Just a shout out to my fellow Off-liners, Web Designers, Marketers and Coaches...

First If you are not already offering to create Lead Generating Reports for your clients you are leaving a small fortune on the table but even if you are...

TRY THIS:

Pick a list of names of people you would like to have as clients. [You can easily do this by just looking on Google and seeing who has a crappy-looking site or who has no lead capture or who is using Adwords with a useless site]

Then get a stunning eCover done for their business. Something along the lines of:

7 Costly Mistakes Homeowners Make Choosing a New Kitchen [and How to Avoid Them...]

And... here is the kicker... Put the Clients Name on the bottom of the report as the author!

Next, print it out and mail it to them.

I like to say:

"Im not psychic but I'll bet you are sat, standing or laying down looking at this and thinking to yourself: "Who is this guy and why has he just sent me this stunning book cover with MY name on it?"

Here's What Happens and Why This Works So Well...

Most people NEVER get to see their name in print. The 'split-second' they see the report cover with THEIR name on it something very powerful hits them... something most people find impossible-to-resist: Ownership!

From there is is a very easy pathway to hire you to write the report, have you walk them through your marketing audit and quickly become their # 1 favorite marketer.

Trust me, you will be the ONLY marketer that has ever contacted them in this way.

      I normally just ask people to give me a list of bullet points and create a report based on their insights into their industry. Then we do an up-sell for a video to promote the report.

      Here is a video we did to show people in Australia. You can see the report cover to get an idea of what sort of standard look and feel you need to aim for.

    Good idea. I also tried something similar on Fiverr, minus the authorship bit, although I did splatter each report with my potential client's logs etc.
    I literally had to pull my ad, cos I was getting too many new clients.

    (You can say what you like, I just don't trust any outsourcer to work as well as me, so I do pretty much all work myself - heck it pays well enough)

      What are you trying to sell them? Are you just using the eBook cover with their name just to get their attention?

      The best thing to sell them is "pain." Write them, call them, whatever your method... just point out why they are losing business.

      Ex. Did you know about 100 customers are not finding you every month? According to Google there are about 100 people typing in [niche keyword] and looking for services. Right now [competition name] is getting about 30 leads every day because they are showing up on Google in one of the top 3 spots for that keyword [niche keyword]. That's about $600 a day of potential revenues, times that by 20 days in a month...that is a lot of business slipping through. We can kick out your competitor so you get those leads......

      Well, you get the picture.

      So, with your eBook w/ their name, sell "pain."

        Actually mate I have sold hundreds of thousands of dollars of consulting from $5K days to $35,000 packages. Had over 700 clients offline and generated tens of millions of dollars as a copywriter. :-)

        I mentioned the Marketing Audit. I developed a 52-Point Audit that gets about 3 years worth of work from the average client.

        I'd say that we go into things in a lot more depth than the average marketer.

        Sure you can sell people on pain but we prefer to open relationships based on trust and proven results. I have clients going back 12 years.

        Everything depends on the long term focus.
