WSO Pro experts: I need some advice on setting up a free WSO with OTO for affiliates

I think my title pretty much sums it up, but I'm wanting to make sure I get this set up right and I'm hoping some of you WSO Pro experts could lend some advice.

I want to offer a free WSO with a OTO. In addition I want to attract affiliates to promote for me.

So my understanding is I launch my free WSO with my WSO Pro code inserted and affiliates sign up to promote said offer. I then list this as the "parent" WSO for my OTO of which I also have a separate WSO Pro code inserted for it. Affiliates would then sign up to promote my OTO as well.

With this set up in place, my affiliates promote my free WSO and when someone then clicks to buy my OTO my affiliate will get credit for at that point.

Am I missing something, or is this correct?

Thanks for the help.

    Derek,

Spot on. Both need a separate WSO Pro listing and affiliates would need to be approved for both. The affiliate then promotes the link for the front end offer and any sales made on the back end would be credited to that affiliate.

I would think you will get more interest from affiliates though if you are charging on the front end. A lot of people nowadays associate free with no value. I have seen a lot of 'freebies' on this forum over the years and very rarely have I left being glad I downloaded the freebie. You should have something worth charging for and if you do, charge for it.

FREE worked well back in the day but so many people now give away worthless stuff for free that it doesn't work quite so well.

That's a very interesting point Will, thanks for sharing. I've honestly been conflicted on how to proceed, torn between updating and re-launching a past WSO for say $7 or offering it as a free giveaway to build my list. Then again, the WSO itself is worth more than $7 as is and has sold well in the past for three and four times as much. My end goal though to be honest is all about the backend, specifically my higher end services and in particular my membership site.

As a potential affiliate would a well converting monthly membership OTO do anything to counteract your hesitancy to promote/consider a free offer? Or does your advice still stand and should I, in your opinion, charge on the front end regardless.

Thanks again for your helpful insights.
