I dunno how many of you know this.. please forgive me if its a common method or something you dont find much useful..(which i would find really hard to believe)

Dont ever underestimate the power of Bookmarking to gain traffic and SERP rankings.. this is the way to success.

Anyways.. here goes..

This is how you find Social bookmarking sites from search engines:

There are three major social bookmark platforms that I know of

  • pligg
  • scuttle/scuttlePlus
  • PHPDug.
Once you know these then finding the sites is peace of cake.


Basic/Simple Method

This is the most common way to search for social bookmarking sites. Just type in:

"Powered by "...."

Replace the "...." with the platform:

eg:

"Powered by scuttle"
"Powered by pligg"
"Powered by scuttlePlus"
"Powered by PHPDug"

Why this method is effective?

By default all platforms have those signatures in their products.
You can find usually at the bottom of social bookmarking sites.

This method can also be used to find forums.


Advanced Search Method


The bigger/better more arrogant socialbookmarking sites remove these lines from the sites so we have to use a diff method to hunt for them....

This is how I would do it....

In Pligg, they have a function for searching stories, they use the following url:

http:/ / socialbookmarksite.com/shakeit.php

therefore this is what you will have to put in the search engines to track for any site using


Pligg.
