You really have a few good options.

    1. Create your own product and then recruit other affiliates to sell for you. If you were to make $10 per sale and your affiliates earn let's say $20-$40, you would need to make 1000 sales to reach $10,000. If you split that 50/50 with your affiliates, you would need to generate 500 sales from the efforts of your affiliates.

    2. You can earn $10,000 if you sell products by yourself but you would need a large budget to make that much. My mentor, years ago, spent like $200-$600 per day on ppc ads and he made like $1000-$1500 gross for that same day.

    3. You can sell items that would bank you $500-$1000 per sale. You just need a few of them each month to reach you goal of $10,000.

These are just 3 good examples.

Well put, I sold affiliate products and Internet and Social Media Marketing to business owners until I created my own product in 2011. We all have to start somewhere :-)

that is what everybody always says.. when you have it setup then 'just scale up' and bamn your going..

However in my personal experiences (I'm doing around 5k per month) that 'just scale up' isn't that easy as they often say it is...

I'm working on it and I have a plan but well so far I'm just finally making some profits from IM (my main income is from other niches)...

I hope by January when I launch my first bigger product I can say I'm half way or at least 1/3 of the missing 5k per month..

In the end I think the real money makers are:
        - Very expensive product (often the 997 USD coaching spots)
        - Membership income (monthly)

An awesome offer that converts like crazy and pays plenty (recurring is best). It can be your product or an affiliate offer.

I do well promoting a few local businesses and earning big commissions on new customers I send their way. I also do well promoting a recurring commission software. These 2 revenue streams generate 2/3 of my income. The rest of my revenue stems from a variety of smaller affiliate commission offers in my niches.

Most months I'm above $10K. Pre-penguin I was at $15K to $17K per month. Penguin knocked out my smaller commission offers ... but good thing I had the other 2 products going.

I'm launching a new service tomorrow that dovetails perfectly with the software I promote which I hope will be my fourth sizable revenue stream.

My 2 best earning revenue sources are referral-based (meaning with a little luck and effort looking for the right offers, you don't need your own product). I'm pretty much the only person promoting those offers. No affiliate competition. Markets are extremely narrow and easy to target. Both products (one is a service) convert extremely well.

It's great promoting the same stuff everybody does (Clickbank, Amazon, SAS, etc.), and I do this, but if you get creative and look for businesses that want sales and are willing to pay big for sales, you can be their 1-person affiliate crew killing it pretty quickly. There is so much awesome SAAS software out there without affiliate programs that charge big fees every month that would be willing to pay you a % every month for more sales. Go look for them. That's what I did. Same thing with local businesses who have high-value customers. Go talk to them.

The key is making $10. Not being happy with it then making $100 and so on an so on. The whole point is that once you find something that works just scale it up. Weather it is buying traffic and becoming an affiliate, or buying traffic and selling your own products. As mentioned with your own product you can just set-up a new funnel and start charging higher prices. Good list management is also a big deal for making this happen. Treat your list like a bank machine and the funds will dry up. Treat them like a VIP club and you will be able to keep printing money.

Lots of ways to do it but just stick to a proven plan which has already worked for many others

Build a list and create a funnel, with high ticket products and some continuity

Or you could just sell 5,000 $2 ebooks each month :-P

  • I will tell you how *I* broke the $10,000/month barrier (not the only way, but this is what worked for me).

    1) Optimizing and tweaking MY product's front-end conversions to optimal levels.
    2) Revamping traffic as much as possible to that front-end offer (this is crucial. Without traffic it's impossible to make money in this game).
    3) Have a few upsells sequenced up in the back-end.

If you have those 3 pillars in place, breaking $10,000/month is not that difficult. But I repeat: you need serious traffic.

    Focus on what matters:

Having a good squeeze page and offer

    Generating targeted traffic

    Capturing leads

    Converting Sales

Having upsells (with very high profits such as $1000) built into the funnel

Bank the $$$ and never, ever, ever stop building that list and getting targeted traffic and leads

Optimize 1,000 keywords for Google. All keywords are low competition, long tail and related to affiliate products. Each keyword makes 3-5 sales/mo, each sales is commission at least $5. So you can make $10,000+/mo by using this technique.

      Terrible advise.

It is FAR more difficult to make and manage 200 half-baked sites making $5/month each, than to make and expand one decent site making $10,000/month.

Some make from Amazon Niche sites, Some from CPA, some from Google Adsense and some from WSO launch, Email marketing, affiliate marketing etc.

I have done Amazon, Adsense, Affiliate marketing for making money and now found WSO launch as I am a developer of IM products with my team. The success depends

I think there are many ways to approach this. I like starting with math.

      $10,000/month could be:

      $20 subscription for 500 users.
      $10 subscription for 1000 users.
      $5 subscription for 2000 users.

      or

Sell 500 products $20 each month.
      Sell 1000 products @ $10 each month.
      Sell 2000 products @ $5 each month.

      or

Sell 1 product each month for $10,000.

      or

Sell 10 different products, and sell 100 of each product for $10.

      or

      ad nauseam.

      -----

I watched a great video where an entrepreneur (a successful one) was discussing his business and what he called the ideal model.

[digging up my notes; you do take notes when you watch videos right?]

He stated that the best businesses were:
      • Reliable
      • Renewable
      • High Margin
      • Low Maintenance Revenue

      Let's look at those:

      Reliable
Whatever you are selling needs to be reliably in demand. Sweaters are only in demand when its cold, or in cold climates. So if you open a sweater shop in Florida, you won't be selling them reliably on a regular rhythm. Contrast that with selling razors.

      Renewable
Very specific to this guys business, he was selling a product that people would routinely need. They were compelled (for compliance reasons) to come back and purchase again.

      High Margin
You can argue this one endlessly, but the main idea about high margin businesses is this: It gives you more room for error. If you estimate your costs incorrectly, or don't get the right pricing, or whatever, those mistakes can be absorbed by your high margins.

      Low Maintenance
This contributes to the high margin from a cost factor (if maintenance requires you to hire people) but it also contributes from a time factor. If you are the sole owner (which most of are in our IM businesses) then maintenance costs you time. To the extent you can automate your business, this will allow you to focus on more value-add for your main business or even additional businesses. The e-Myth entrepreneur book explores this idea of being a business owner vs being self employed. The woman who runs her donut shop has to be there all day in order for things to run properly. Contrast that with an owner who needs only stop by and discuss business with the manager periodically.

One thing the entrepreneur left out of his lecture which should be obvious is that you need to be providing something of value.

      No value = no sales.

So combine all of this, and I think you'll find that the most profitable ventures on the internet probably revolve around membership sites or software that charges a monthly fee.

    Arbitrage.

Buying things (services) for one price and selling them for a higher price.

There's something almost anyone can get started with.

The question... how much do you really want it?

That's all it comes down to. Two guys doing the exact same method will both make different incomes. One will want it more than the other.

SaaS-Software as a Service. It's an automated service where a user is able to access the program via the Internet and Web browser-based applications (don't need to install on a computer). It's usually subscription based, so when the user stops paying he/she doesn't have access to it anymore.

Example: freshbooks.com - cloud accounting or autoresponder companies like aweber.com/getresponse.com

I believe it's the most profitable business model ever. If your software solves a big problem and makes life easier, then it's super easy to sell. You don't need a long sales copy, it's just a matter of presenting what it does.
It also often happens, that when a SaaS company gets a client, it's a really long term relationship, not just one-month sale.

    @jgant
Great thinking outside the box. I can only imagine how one can really clean up promoting expensive SaaS with no 'affiliate competiton'. I definitely need to get into this in 2013. However, I wonder how these companies you contact track your sales if they have no dedicated affiliate programs, do they set up something specifically for you (it's a cost for them and they don't even know if you bring any results...)?
There are a number of ways to set up tracking. Since I promote products and services without formal affiliate programs, I've tried many methods.

The best method for SAAS in my experience is to have the company create for you a landing page with a contact form for tracking inquiries.

BUT, you must also get the company to agree to offer your referrals a discount which is triggered by either filling in the form or mentioning that you referred them. A great discount is an extra month free. I use the discount/dedicated landing page combo and it works really well. I've had no tracking issues. I may have lost a sale here and there, but I've generated an excellent passive income from one SAAS product where the churn rate is really low so the residuals will continue for a long time.

Besides, my monthly new sales rate exceeds unusbscribers, which is all that matters.

I forgot to add that one of the best ways to to promote SAAS is through list building. The great thing about SAAS is it often serves a very specific group offering specific features/benefits. Therefore listbuilding is pretty simple. I only get 5 to 10 leads a day, but they are targeted leads. I also promote on YouTube and on my niche blog site.

I had my niche blog up and running before approaching the company so they could see I meant business. It's best to have a site up first I think so that potential companies take you seriously. If you have a list, even better. Of course this is risky ... you invest in a site only to find nothing all that great to promote.

Other issues to consider when researching SAAS companies are:

Churn rate (the rate members drop off. Another way of putting it is the average number of months a company/person stays with the software). I like 20 months plus as an average which isn't hard with quality business software. Generally software is great because there's a huge investment in time to implement so companies will stay with the software unless it's really bad.

Look for industry leading software. The sales site has to look great. The company needs to be growing. It has to be awesome software that sells on its own. It must be high quality or you won't sell it.

You absolutely must have recurring commissions. I really lucked out with a top tier of 35% recurring commission (I started at 15%). I'm at the top tier, and that is quite high for SAAS. I wouldn't consider anything under 20%. Also, the monthly cost for the service matters as well. 30% of $10 software isn't all that great (although I promote lower cost software with recurring as well ... it's just not my focus).

Look for an SAAS opportunity without a formal affiliate program. It's a little more legwork, but with no affiliate competition it's very easy to get leads and convert. I'm still the only really active affiliate. This software has a few other partners, but they don't generate that many sales.

Another good criterion is software that can be targeted to different distinct industries. This broadens your audience, but you can promote it separately with different blogs/lists, etc. This isn't absolutely necessary, but it's a bonus.

If you find a great SAAS opportunity that costs $90 per month to the customer and you get 33% every month, that's $30 every month per referral. If the average duration of one customer is 24 months, each sale is worth $720. Once you generate 300 sales, you have $9K per month. Assuming your funnel generates more sales than unsubscribes, you have a truly passive $9K/month income.

I'm not the world's best e-mail marketer (am learning still), so I figured 1.5 years ago promoting recurring commission products was the way to go for passive income.

The key to success is based on self-confidence, knowledge, work, organization, connections, and persistence.

However, everything is complicated, difficult, and takes time. It’s not a simple matter to regularly make a good amount of money per month.

The key to make $10,000 a month is:

-Choose a niche you have experience with and knowledge of!

-Never give up. Work hard! And don't care about what negative family members and friends tell you.

-Set goals an try to achieve your goals. Because a business without goals is a meaningless business.

-Find the best way to cummunicate with your target group/audience on.

-Give your audience what they want, what they need and things that interest them and helps them to cover their needs.

-Focus on one niche because an old proverb says; "It's easier to chase and catch one monkey than 10 monkeys".

-Become the best in your niche!

There are multiple ways to make recurring monthly income. You'll have to build it up slowly (unless you're very lucky!).

You know what they say, "It's good to be good, but it's better to be lucky."

You need to find something that you can charge a monthly recurring fee for such as a subscription site or large content site that you can run advertising on.

The key is to fill a need and have something that people are willing to pay for monthly. Think of the "wine of the month club". That's a perfect example. People want to drink wine, they don't know which wines are good or not. Here they get 6 bottles of wine every month with an explanation about the wines and their characteristics. That keeps people paying every month. Build it up and you could be making millions a month.

You can believe you can make it your entire life... and still not make it.
So don't get carried away believing too many things.

Instead, get carried away learning skills.
The proverbial "key" to success, for me, is the skill of sales/copywriting. With that skill, I know I can make it. Because I've made it yesterday, and the week before, so I'll make it tommorow, and next week.

Things always change, but an ability to sell never changes. Products may change, but then you just sell a new product. Services might change, but then you just sell a new service.

For me, its all about knowing how to sell. You have to "sell" people to get them to your website, then you have to sell them when they get there. Then you have to sell them to tell other people. Then you have to sell them to get them to come back. The ones who sell best, succeed best. Thats always been my opinion, always will, and I don't think it will ever change tbo.

Advice that was given to me once was that you should always plan for the future, never look for immediate success. Planting the seeds for a profitable future will reap its own rewards by the end of it.

To begin making that step to success, take action today, what you plan & what you set up now to begin bringing in that revenue will only get stronger over the months. The first 2 months maybe a push to get by if you are promoting a product. Simply put, 'if you build it, they will come' (field of dreams quote-applies to many things).

Never set a figure of money in you mind either, once you've achieved that goal, where does you next goal lie... Success isn't determined by money, money is simply a by-product of success.

Sorry for all the inspirational speech above, I recently read an ebook that gave me a new drive, hope this helps too.

    Try breaking it down:
    $10,000/month = $333.33/day -- really, it's only that much.

Many of other had mentioned above, you could either work on affiliate marketing, or product creation to achieve that point!

You have to be like a well endowed African american flasher in a subway station, wearing a trench coat.

Not that I have done this before, LOL.

You have to know what you have, and how to expose it, to the right people, at the right time!!!

    Ha ha!

Once you get your minds out of the gutter, you will realise the power of this.

Also having a list is not a waist of time. Any guru will tell you wtihout a list, or leveraging off other peoples lists, you only really have a 1/4 of a business. Lists are powerful things.

Develop the correct mindset to start off. Envision what your end goal is going to be (10,000/month) then develop a plan to achieve this.

Start off small by making your first 1k a month, then work up from there. Above all else work extremely hard and prove great value to help people achieve their own goals, and you will see the results you are looking for.

    Hi

I think you need to learn from people actually earning 10k per month to be honest , you will find some great advice in here but also lots of theory.

Sign up for a mentor or a coaching group maybe.

I am not currently earning that amount per month so can't give you the best advice.

I did do it for a few months last year and that was due to ranking high for brand buying keywords until my site got slapped ! But again that wasn't consistent income so I wouldn't suggest that was the key either.

I suspect having a list will be the key to achieving this for many now.

  • There are many ways you can easily make 10k a month. You can do it through facebook, you can do it by simply selling one measly report.
I say "measly report" but, well, no report is measly to the man buying it.
I would go with information marketing though, that's how I would go about it.

Start with pen and paper, your iPad, whatever...plan out WHAT you want to do, and nExt, HOW you want to achieve this, and prepare yourself for HARD WORK in the beginning. Be prepared to put in the work in the beginning and you will reap later.

Making money on line is the same as any brick and mortar business, plan, implement, execution.

Approach with this attitude and YOU will succeed.

Overall it's that simple. I would add though:

Test... Test... Then when you find something profitable... Scale the hell out of it... Kill off the unprofitable ventures and scale the profitable ones more.
