Is kindle and marketing site the way of the future?

Is selling from a personal site becoming harder? And is selling on amazon (through createspace and kindle) the way of the future? I seem to have more success with kindle and letting them sit, than having my own site. Is this a trend?

Nope. Having your own site is the way of the future. At anytime these sites that you are using to make money with (Amazon, Kindle, Createspace) can delete and ban your account that you have... and will keep your money. Trust me, i would know.

OK so my sales on Kindle are super. Yeah, as in super poor. Perhaps it is just me. Still, I do not like amazon. Like people need to see a lot of reviews.

Kindle publishing is definitely getting more and more popular as it gives writers who would otherwise not have a chance to get their work seen, a real shot at success.

Having your own website will always be the most grounded step you can take to ensure the longevity of your online business. As Randall said, if you have a self hosted website, no one take that away from you.

What I would recommend if you wish to get into both Kindle publishing and web development is to integrate them. Direct your readers to your website within your Kindle books. Create Kindle books around your website topic and use them to drive traffic to your site and capture email addresses.

you must have your own website beside kindle, you never know what could happen, also try to keep your review in a file, as you might need them one day, i learnt not to depend on another site from a harsh experience!

There are numerous channels, to sell and market a business/brand. Kindle is just one of them that many use. The reason why selling on amazon or with kindle is a success, is because of the trust factor. Many people, simply trust amazon and almost anything listed on their site--also, gains trust.

it's like running a yahoo store, for your ecommerce business. You shall have a higher rate of success, because yahoo stores have gained lots of trust and that can lead to more sales!

There are actually mixed views and reviews about kindle and marketing sites. For some, they could be the trend, for others they are just the means to an end.
This would primarily depend on the presence and popularity of the website.
As for me, kindle and marketing sites are not the only means of commercializing a site.
