Having a problem with wordpress

I'm having a problem with wordpress and for the life of me I cannot figure it out.

None of my posts are appearing in the main page. The are appearing in the categories pages and in the recent post widget.

I have tried changing the theme and this has no effect on my problem. At this stage I'm stumped and wondering if anyone else here has encountered this problem before.

The only time this has happened to me was when I was posting a comment by mistake.

Is this a new install of WP? Are you running the latest version? Was it working and then suddenly stopped working?

      We need some details here.

Try going to the settings link in your admin panel and click "reading". You'll see an option that says "front page settings" with a couple radio buttons. Choose "your latest posts" and the problem should be fixed.

    I hope this works

I have some sight and concentration problems and discovered that I had been writing my 'posts' into the comments box like an ordinary site visitor.

It's a stupid mistake but sometimes it is the least likely option that is the problem.

I have about twenty WP blogs and I have never had this problem caused by the installation.

It is a fresh install of wordpress. The problem has been there since I installed it. I have the setting in the reading folder to view my latest posts.

I know I can reinstall but its a pain in the hole having to set it up install plugins themes again etc.

Yes, and I think you will need to. And test making a blog post before installing your plugins.

Do you have a static page setup in your Settings > Reading?

No my settings>reading is set to view latest posts. I have tried changing the permalink structure and updating the post links and this made no difference.

Hmm, that is weird. Could this be a problem with perhaps the template you might be using?

Yeah, that is really wierd. the only thing I can think of is that you could be trying to edit the wrong page or that youare posting on a page that is not the index/home page.

The issue is he said he tried changing the theme and that did not resolve the issue.

This tells me it is the main installation. He could try changing the theme a few more times, but changing your clothes is not going to fix something wrong on your body. It just covers up the problem.

Try changing the status of all of your posts to "Draft" and click "Update Post". Then, go through each one, one at a time and change it back to "Published", then click "Update Post". This should help you find the problematic post.

A guy that I help had a similar problem. He was pasting his posts straight from MS Word, which put all kinds of unfamiliar css stuff in it. If you draft your posts in MS Word, then make sure you paste into notepad before putting it into your blog. Then, do your styling (Bold, Italics, etc) in the wordpress editor.

Hi guys, I got this problem solved without reinstalling wordpress. Yay.

How I did it was I disabled all my plugins and the blog started to work again. I then went through each plugin 1 by 1 activating them and checking the blog. It turns out the wordpress redirection plugin was the one causing the problem. I haven't had time to figure out why it was doing this yet but at least it is solved for the moment.

Its strange because I hadn't even used the plugin yet but always use it in all my blogs, great for aff links.

Anyway reinstalling a plugin is a lot easier than reinstalling wordpress so I am glad I got it figured out. I can always redirect pages manually if it keeps playing up.

Great work! 90% of the time it's going to be an issue with a post or a plugin, so your best bet is to just disable all and then do exactly what you did.

Some plugins are not working with the new wp version. Must be careful with plugins, check if your plugin works with your version

Hey to test just go into themes and load one of the default themes again and check to see if you are getting the same problem.

This will tell you if it is theme based or something else.

Always do comparative tests so you can rule out different things.

It seems as though I have recently been banned from Wordpress. Many emails have been written in response, saying I am violating terms of services and now two of my accounts are suspended. With over 7 created blogs.

He claims affiliate marketing is a violation even though I was very conservative with my links!

This has been frusterating for a newbie wanting to tap into affiliate marketing. Any ideas, opinions, tips?

Is there any way to get over the suspension my accounts have? It looks like they even blocked my IP as well...

Switch to Blogger.com, they allow affiliate marketing.

You can not use Wordpress.com for any commercial doings, so even "conservative" use of your affiliate links is a violation of their TOS.

Either use Blogger as mentioned above or install Worpress.org on you own host/domain and then YOU own the site and can do anything you want with it.

spv618 - yes, wordpress.com free blogs are well known to be subject to shutting down if you use them for anything commercial. It's right there in their TOS, though, so shouldn't be a surprise.

The OP was talking about a self-hosted WP blog, which you can do whatever you like with and be as commercial as you like. That means he bought a domain name and hosting service, and installed WP from wordpress.org

spv618, just get a domain name and host your own WP blogs. You can get free hosting here: www.000webhost.com. No ads, cpanel, fantastico to make wp instal easy.
