Hi Everyone. Need some advice. I have been studying online marketing close to 2 years now. I've spent a few thousand dollars on different things trying to learn the best way to start. I've been in the construction business for the last 20 years. I am interested in online marketing because you can work from anywhere and you can create residual income. I am having trouble getting started and sometime wonder if it is worth starting. I hear alot of stories about people making money, but I wonder if they are true!! Not sure where to start; selling clickbank products, CPA products, my own products...Maybe sell e-books online. Kinda lost. I make a good living with my business now. I know I can expand and make more money. I know guys in my field that are making millions a year. I know plumbing companies that are making millions a year. I know pest control companies that are making millions a year. I do not know personally any online marketers that are making miilions a year!!! I could pursue any of the above businesses to reach that goal. My wife and I want to travel around alot so the best business for me to pursue is online marketing, but not sure how much you can really make???

My questions for the community are?

1. Is there people in this community making at least $10,000 a month
consistantly?
2. One of the courses I bought is the HTA. It seems some of his methods
for getting traffic may be saturated?
3. I have a couple of niches in mind, is selling e-books still profitable?
4. What is the best way to get traffic to your web site?
5. Is it better to pick a very competitive niche or not competitive?
6. Need advice for a starting point?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

There are many, and even a few making ten times that. Using the search function will possibly help you to find the threads with titles like "Who earns $10,000+ per month?" There are plenty of them, albeit not always easy to find. (You could possibly try a search of the Main Marketing Forum only for threads with "earn"/"earns" in their titles?).

What is "HTA"? (I suspect it's going to be something "terribly obvious" that I just can't quite place from its initials?!).

Yes. I make a very good living from it, anyway (by selling them as an affiliate), and so do plenty of others here.

It depends on your skill-set, the demographics of the traffic you want to attract, and your niche, among other things.

The "best" thing is not to depend on one method, and to try to concentrate on non-SEO-based methods. Businesses that depend on Google for their primary traffic are never completely secure, and in fact never more than one algorithm change away from a potential accident/disaster, as so many Warriors have learned (some to their very great cost) over the last couple of years. SEO traffic is also poor quality traffic, anyway, for many of us.

I get the majority of my responsive, productive traffic from article marketing.

It depends on the traffic you need to attract. If you're looking at SEO traffic, not-too-competitive is probably better.

Important: keep away from "Make Money Online" and "Internet Marketing Advice/Services" niches. Trying these first is (for fairly obvious reasons) the single commonest mistake that beginning marketers make, and a major cause of failure.

I'm not sure how to answer this, and don't really know "how to start". It's a terribly general question, and I'm struggling to say anything other than "It depends on what you want to do". I started as an article writer, and therefore looked for "something you can use to make money from article marketing", by investigating how my then article-writing clients were making money by using what I wrote. But ultimately I suppose it depends on your existing skill-set and/or the skill-sets you're interested in acquiring and developing. Nobody makes a proper living online without appropriate education (even if it's mostly self-education) and skills.

In the same boat as you are buddy. Been trying this for three years and haven't made a single sale. I have either bought, stole, or borrowed every course out there. The only money I make is through Adsense.

Here is what I predict because I've asked this before. All you're gonna get is a bunch of vague answers or affiliate links. And before I get criticized. I am not bitter and I still work at it. I spend hours implementing the techniques. No avail.

I equate internet marketing to playing sports. You have millions of amateurs and dozens of pros. You can make money online but typical results are a few hundred a month. They higher amounts are not typical and does not happen overnight. It's also not meant for everyone.

Some of the answers will be vague, for sure, because many of the questions are (albeit perhaps understandably) none-too-specific, are they?

Nonsense: those aren't allowed here. That's one thing you certainly won't see. What you typically see is a succession of people with no self-interest at all, at least trying to be helpful.

If it helps/interests anyone, there's an overview of my entire business model in this post: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5721774

    • Your right about millions of amateurs and dozens of pros..

I would say to the original poster to stay here and read as much as you can..study the info on this site..it's very valuable.

You are asking these questions, but you say you have studied online marketing for 2 years....

What have you learned in those 2 years? Who have you been studying? What can you do right now?

And What do you really want to do - write, blog, have an online store, do offline prospecting related to your construction expertise (might be a good idea!)?

And @fenway2k..If you haven't made a single sale in 3 years after having bought, stole and borrowed every course out there, as you say, then you are correct imo - this is definitely not for you, and you are right that it is not for everyone. Although many will say otherwise, it's a true statement. I'd even go further and say it is not for most.

Some tips to help you out they you may be doing...

    1. Stop buying WSO's - stick to one method that has been proven to work, and continue until you see results

    2. Build An Email List if you have not! One of the major mistakes most people do, is they sell directly to first time visitors. It has been pro

    3. Traffic- Find 2 methods that you find interesting and focus all your energy into them. Track your results to see which one is doing better, then discard the one and focus more on the other. Then repeat the process.

    4. Above all else over deliver good value to your customers! The more you help your prospects out - the quicker you will see the results you are looking for.
