Ranked #1 on Google, and No Sales....

Hey guys,

I have a wordpress blog site ranked #1 on Google for the past 2 months now and have no sales whatsoever. I am semi new to online marketing and internet income. It is now Nov. 25 2012 and I have had over 1500 unique visitors and over 37,500 hits. My site is Fruit Juice Recipes-Healthier Than Ever. Can someone please look at my site and tell me how I can monetize this better? I know with this traffic and rank I should be making some kind of money. Thanks

A few things jump to mind.

      1) Ad placement.

      2) Ad type. Unless you are attracting billions of users, I'd focus on advertisements related to your niche. When I got to your site I it showed me an ad for GoDaddy and another one for Quickbooks. More relevant ads (juicers from amazon, for example) might be more valuable. I mean, unless you caught me at the perfect time, I'll have no interest in clicking on those ads. But if I was working on juice recipes, and saw an ad for a juicer on Amazon, I'm 100 more times likely to click on it.

I like this. I did have an amozon bar at the top that had my affiliate link in it, but changed to adsense for some reason. I will change back to amazon. Thanks!

    Hi AH-Profits

I took a look at your site and first impressions is it's quite fresh looking.

The first things I see are the ad banner and the Follow me - these are links away from your product.

I was consciously looking for your offer and it took me a little while to find it.

It feels like a nice information site, which is good...but I think your offer needs to be a bit more in your face

Maybe have a really nice graphic (with a call to action) above the main content, or in the sidebar.

    hope that helps
    cheers

      Steve King,

Thanks for that comment. I was debating on removing the twitter button since I really don't use the account. Do you think adding an image for the sales page above my content that redirects to that page would be a good idea?

I think it would be a good idea, or alternatively have an optin box above the content. make it easy for the visitor to find the information you want them to find...

Here's an example of one of my sites: Online Golf Instruction it's pretty to the point and we get fairly good opt-ins

        hope that helps a bit

You need to start with the basics. Capture people's emails and start building a list.

Follow up by sending them quality content that leads into the main product you're trying to sell.

Right now, you're in the Wikipedia business, AKA the free information business. It's not a very profitable business to be in.

What's your overall plan for this site? I'd be happy to share some monetization ideas for you.

      Guypeleides,

My idea for this site is to make it a product site. I want to draw in the customers who are looking for the fruit juice information, but then sell them the juicers and other products (maybe weight loss or health information).

Don't ever be afraid to sell something of true value!

If you want to sell products, just make sure you sell the best of what you can offer. You need to get products on there right away.

Here are some things people probably look for in a juicer off the top of my head:
        • Best cost effective model
        • Best that money can buy model
        • What separates one juicer from another
        • Warranties/Motors, etc
        • How easy it is to clean

I'm certainly no juicing expert but all of that information is available on Amazon. Look at the highest rated and lowest rated juicers. Go into specific reviews and find out what people love and hate about each juicer and then do that research for them. They're already telling you what matters to them in a juicer if you review amazon reviews in detail.

        Add value to your content:

Looking great juicing recipes is an awesome niche to be in. You're helping people live healthier lifestyles.

However, there's different reasons people drink juice. I'm no juicing expert but here are some things they probably want in a juice recipe...
        • Fast and easy juice recipes
        • Healthy stuff filled with superfoods and extra vitamins
        • Stuff for weight loss (<--big emotional trigger)

Those are a few quick ones I could think of for you but it's anything but a complete list.

Why does your prospect want juice in the first place?

You need dig deeper into their psychology. What are their challenges for making juice every day? What kinds of juice do they really want and why does that matter to them?

When you figure that out, that's what you need to build your optin and your products around. "Sign up for our free newsletter is a good start" but if they really want juice to be healthy, "the 5 quick and easiest juice recipes jam packed with vitamins to lose weight" might draw a lot more optins. I honestly don't know what those triggers are in your market but they aren't hard for you to research and find out.

On top of it, you'll be offering immense value to them if you only genuinely recommend the products that actual fulfil those needs.

        Lastly...

Just sell the damn juicers already!

There's nothing for sale right now on your site. You can't make money if you don't even give people a chance to buy something. I literally bought a juicer a week ago and if you could have told me what the best one under $250 was and why, you'd already have a sale.

Don't beat around the bush and make your site a Wikipedia free information site. It's not a profitable business to be in.

People are okay with you selling the stuff as long as you really do your homework, offer them the best value, and give them what they truly need.

Remove the chikita ads. You won't make any significant money with them. Your reader is going to want the information they're looking for immediately so it's best to move or get rid of those banners. I had to scroll down to find your first affiliate link. Perhaps move those banners under (if you indeed choose to have them, I personally wouldn't) your content to push it above the fold.

Also, do you really only have one affiliate link on your homepage? I would sprinkle one through each recipe you have. Give you a much higher chance for sales. There is a lot of potential on your site, you just have to cultivate it.

    @thedanbrown,

Yes I also agree. I wanted to start building a list from this website, since I do get a decent amount of free traffic. I wanted to make a list of superfoods and their benefits. What do you think? Would my visitors give me their emails for this free info?

      TEST and find out.

This is all a learning experience for you.

Statistics and testing are your friends.

Test a popup window for email sign ups, or slide up to be less intrusive.

Have a good chain of 3 emails to follow up with - offer value, give people what information they want, and offer a complementary product related to juicing. A JUICER would be your best place to start I assume.

      Let us know the results.

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the big link in the top of your sidebar (note that I use AdBlock Plus so none of your Amazon ads are visible) that says "Please visit my other blog site! and subscribe to RSS!" followed by a whole bunch of article links that are totally unrelated to fruit juice.

This is just confusing and you are wasting valuable above the fold (for people using adblockers) space for something unrelated.

what every single page that sells something has to had a sales page
doing it is very easy your salespage should:
-Be at the index of the website.
        -must start with a hi.
        -short explanation of the product.
-tell the user why this is the product he's looking for.
-show images of the product and it's effectiveness.
-offer a 30 days money back guarantee.
        -show review of users.
-put the buy now button at the end.

That's basically a sales page, you have to do it right, 'cause some clients will see your page only 1 time and you have to make them purchase.
        good day.

More than likely because the keyword you are ranked first for isn't really a buying keyword. "Fruit Juice Recipes". 99% of people searching that probably aren't looking to buy the juicers you are promoting, but they would be looking for recipe's to make with their juicers.

You're targeting the wrong audience if you're trying to get them to buy juicers, because they already own juicers.

    Hello AhProfits,

After taking a look at your site which is nice to look at by the way and provides some very neat recopies (some of which I might actually try), I thought the site was setup pretty well and the ads as I can see you have taken advice from some of the warriors replies here.

All of that aside I think if it were my site I would concentrate on promoting more juice drink recipe books, or take a little time to write a report or eBook filled with your favorite recopies and sell it from your site for a small price (e.g. $2 to $5). A few dollars or so to begin generating some sales from the site and them get into larger ticket sale after you have a list of buyers.

This is just a suggestion but it is a great strategy to find you buyers and start selling something to them as a very small price while gathering their contact info then go back provide them with more good content and sell a larger ticket item down the line once they feel like you have provided them with some value and begin to like you...

    Hi Ahprofits,

If you're on Google Page 1 for your keywords and your new to IM, first things first - fair play - second, if you are new, then under-go proper in-depth Keyword research.

Find out exactly how many searches your targeted 'keywords' have in Google KW tool

Look for 'POWER KEYWORDS' - Keywords like 'buy car' rather than just 'car' or 'car review' because these people won't be buying from your website/blog if they're using words like 'fruit smoothies' or 'mango drinks' to find your site because these people aren't looking to buy.

I'm sure you know all this but it's always good to know.

A harsher critique about helping your website convert:

You need a whole new redesign! Choose a new WP Theme, get WooCommerce and START SELLING!

You've got a good niche so take full advantage of being on the 1st page of Google and turn your hits into profit.

    WHAT ARE YOU SELLING?

List all the products you're selling then make sure your browsers can easily find your products on the top of the page - Through the Navigation bar, such as a 'services' or 'fruit juice products' tab.

You need to make your navigation bar stand out more, another post mentioned earlier that your adverts are the first thing we're drawn to and he's right. Also, to many adverts can make users 'bounce' off your site (check you bounce rate on your Analytics account).

When you've turned your website/blog into a fully efficient products website with a strong user interface so your users can easily navigate around your website, you'll start selling your services and products in no time.

The biggest problem is the name of your site fruit juice recipes ! That is what people are looking for when they come to your site ! If I wanted to sell a juicer I would name my site after the name of the juicer and then offer free juice recipes to go with it. I would try to get them onto my list by offering them more juice recipes and then sell them down the road.

One thing I'd suggest is a link back to your home page in the Navigation.

I clicked on to other pages and then realized I couldn't get back to the Home Page, where I thought I saw a Subscribe form.

A lot of people wouldn't bother to do what I did and re-enter the URL or click the back button until I got back to your Home Page. To me, a Home Page link is totally necessary. It can create a panic attack in some people, trust me!

The site, to me, is not "healthy looking", with that woodgrain background. Perhaps making it bright and fruity looking would help.

Right now you are targeting people who already have a juicer, but are looking for more recipes for them. And on top of that they are looking for FREE recipes most likely.

Instead of giving away all the recipes on your website/blog, entice them to sign up by giving away 7 free recipes. And then you send 1 recipe a week, or every 3 - 4 days.

I would have it so that the sign up is all on a landing page of its own, and then a small secondary one at the end of each page on the website/blog.

You give them the free recipes, but you also give them other info as well. Maybe some reviews on the best top of the line juicers, etc etc. ( People like to have the best of the best ). Offers on juicer recipe books as well would work.

Another thing to think about is: Don't rely on just one keyword for your traffic. Keep updating your website daily, even twice a day. The more you update your website the more content will be out there, and the quicker you will get indexed by Google.

Get rid of the Amazon Widgets; I have never seen them work. If you want to promote a juicer, then do it directly with a review and TEXT and PICTURE based links in the review.

BTW: The juicer you have on your main page is part of the excluded from commission list that Amazon has. I would choose another juicer to promote, one that is not a Breville ( there are a bunch of them on the excluded list )

I took a look at the clickbank product that you are promoting. I haven't "read" the product itself, but the sales page is working against you right away. Before the main part of the sales page starts they are asking people to sign up to their newsletter. A sales page that works in favor of the affiliate won't even have this on their page.

This is just for starters, I hope it sheds a little bit of light, and helps you out.

You are selling a Breville juice maker on a fruit recipes site.

It's obvious you aren't going to sell many juice makers with that.

My answer to why you are not making sales is the fact that your visitors aren't that attracted to the affiliate products you are offering.

Change that a little and you might see better conversions.
