A Dump Question About Youtube

Hello everyone

I've a question regarding youtube videos, may be it seems silly but really I'm confused!

Am I allowed to post utube videos on my site? can I have links to the videos I find interesting and related to my site? What about copyrights and legal issues?

I got confused when I used Marketing Samurai

If anyone used this tool, you know it has a module for finding content for your site, it searches for articles and other content formats (including videos) related to your site, and logically, it finds you content to use.

For articles, it's a common knowledge that you can post the article on your site (if the author allows this) as long as you keep the bio box unedited.

But for a video, how you can be sure if the author agrees or not to use his video?

And where is the footprint of the author (like the bio box in the article) that keeps the credentials for the video producer?

Any ideas?

The general rule is that you LINK to the video (embed) on your web page. You do NOT store the video on your website. When someone uploads a video to YouTube, they are giving all rights to YouTube. YouTube in turn allows anyone to link to the videos... in fact they even provide the actual code for you to do that with.

This is much different than posting an article on your site, because with an article, you're actually making a copy to store on your site. You need the author's permission to do this. However, with a YouTube video, you are NOT storing it on your site. You're just linking to it, with full permission to do so. The author has no say in the matter, unless they choose to remove it from YouTube.
