Leanring internet marketing the historical way?

I am bit of a history buff and one of the preferred method of learning in earlier times (be it medieval or ancient) was apprenticehood where a person learning a trade or skill worked under an expert for a nominal amount or just three square meals a day. A couple of years ago when I started looking at building my own website I came across a couple of similar examples in website building/internet marketing/affiliate marketing (though now it seems as if the experts in question have stopped doing this). For me this seems like a great way of learning IM...you are taught the information and you directly apply it on a practical basis while the expert gets another decent/good/great/brilliant (choose any :p) site without any major effort (of course those who outsource find it that they are doing this for cheap) Is there any place where I can find such guys?

You can offer to JV with some of the better-known IMers. Of course, you need to be able to contribute to the deal, but you'd be surprised to find that there ARE people who really want to help others grow. Think of a great concept, and start offering it to some bigger marketers.
