One Of The Best Domain Names Ever?

I'm so happy!

Just casually browsing GoDaddy domain search, and found a domain name was actually available (I don't know how...)

The domain name is...

www . Internet Marketing . co . uk

Around how much would this be worth?

- James.

    G`day James,

    good pickup ... to me it`s worthless ... ok, $15 ..
To the right person however .. thousands I`d say,
possibly tens of? I find domain pricing like "string
    length estimation".

That`s a fine piece of UK string you have tho.
Perhaps someone with more experience with domaining
    can chime in ...

*EDIT* Probably be worth more using it yourself

Domains in the .co.uk realm are not worth much compared to their .com counterparts.

You might ask a few hundred from a speculator but you are better to build up the PR and backlinks yourself and then it will be worth much more.

Seems like a good domain you could try and sell it over at namepros forum. What you need to look for is if their is any traffic flowing to the site right now? That is one of the biggest selling points a domain with visitors already coming to it via mistypes etc.

It's worthless to you now...I've just get hold of it.. :p

    Nah..

Well, get the domain now and redirect it to an affiliated "internet marketing related" product while checking on the stats of the no. of visitors that it's getting. Expand only if the results are good.

for me thats a good domain. For who want to start business online, they would type the keyword "Internet marketing" but I also think maybe *.com would be nicer

Alot depends on the buyer. If you've got a well-known I.M. guy who wants to sell lots of products in the U.K. and even do coaching there the domain's probably worth a lot to him.

Someone in a different market it will be almost worthless.

Worth picking up and then build it up while you're searching for the right buyer. If you already have someone in mind in the UK who would be a good buyer even better.

    James,

Stick a blog on it, get an article per day on it, or at least one per week, and just wait till the PR goes up.

Give it a little time and I'm sure it'll be worth much mroe than you paid for it, especially if you've got a site on it.

You haven't received notification from GoDaddy that there was an error yet? If not yet you soon will as you have not really registered this domain. GoDaddy is notorious for this error which has got many peoples hopes up only to send them crashing back down to earth. There is no way that a domain like this would really be available and a quick whois check confirms this as it was registered in 1996 and is currently owned by a company in East Sussex.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this is a common bug that GD has and is very annoying. Check another more reliable registrar in the future such as Moniker as they don't seem to have this problem.

You should really be able to sue people for this. Go Daddy is a huge company and they really should know what they are doing or talking about. ridiculous.

Yes, that is correct. I wondered why it wasn't showing up on my domain manager so I e-mailed support...

        Dear James,
Thank you for contacting online support.

Yes, there is a reason internetmarketing.co.uk does not show up in your Domain Manager. The registration failed and you have been refunded automatically. This is usually caused by a problem with the registry. You may try again if you still want the domain or you may contact the registry for further details.

Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.
        Sincerely,

Bummer. But yeah - it happens. Win some, lose some. Bad luck. As to what a domain name is worth - why it's worth what someone is willing to pay. Don't get sucked into those B/S "Domain Name Appraisals" either - all completely worthless. Even the appraisals done by a "human bean" - its just their subjective opinion. What appraisal would they have given Google.com and Yahoo.com in the beginning eh?

Maybe you were just put on a waiting list in case it expires.

GoDaddy has this feature for soon to expire domains, not a bug really.

Probably nothing, but just wait a bit, their web developer could miss the renewal.

But it's not yours till the confirmation email...

No, it wasnt a waiting list, it showed it as available. I know the difference :p

Ah well, these things happen. Just means i've gotta make my new project on a fancy new domain

I also noticed that the domain was registered on the whois info (plus there was no way this domain would ever be available), and I was about to ask you if you'd accidently bought a domain with a spelling mistake in it!

I read on and discovered the problem...

    DOH!!!!

When did Ashton Kutcher start working for GoDaddy?

Sorry bout that James...... you were just on an emotional roller coaster similar to a no limit poker game!

Start reading ICANN's policies to see if you have any recourse, just in case.

I have been caught out before in the past as well so know that feeling".

But I have also picked up some great secondhand domains with sometimes decent page rank, sometimes traffic for as little as $5 plus transfer costs (not everyone selling a domain realizes their value) . So don't give up.
