eBay Affiliate with Pepper Jam

Hello,
Still a newbie.
I've listened to a podcast this morning (an old one). They were talking about setting a store and automatically promoting ebay products. They were talking about affiliating through pepper jam. I was curious about setting up such a site, but they were just introducing this in the podcast, not talking in detail. Where can I find info on the subject please?

Thanks,

Doron

Except that article is about 3 years old and completely useless at this point.

eBay then terminated its Pepperjam program and went completely in-house. You need to sign up with eBay.

      Then, GSI Commerce bought Pepperjam.

      Recently, eBay bought GSI Commerce.

Does that mean you can again promote eBay via Pepperjam? No.

Thx - does that mean though you cannot setup a store?

No. Just means you need to signup with eBay and not Pepperjam. There is a lot of research you should do before applying. eBay proudly says it rejects 90% of all affiliate applications.

There is software, phpBay Pro is what I use, that will automatically create 'store' pages of eBay listings.

The software part is what I wanted to know. I actually applied Allready for eBay affiliate. Hope there is no rejection...

            Thanks,

One more question - I assume even after becoming an affiliate and setting a store up you still need to drive traffic to your site. Are we talking ranking in Google high for that, or since this is an ebay affiliate store, are there other approaches to get traffic?

              Thanks,

Yes, just to back up what others have said, you need an EPN account, which means you need a half-decent site, which a lot of people don't. The other alternative is to sign up to Skimlinks, who have eBay on their "books", although they take a cut, it's one way to start. My plugin works with Skimlinks, not sure about PHPBay, I think there is a hack you have to do.

As far as traffic, hmm, that's pretty much the million-dollar question, isn't it! Search traffic is the best source for eBay, but Google really hates sites stuffed with eBay listings, so you really have to work on the content and NOT major on the eBay product listings otherwise you will get NOWHERE in the rankings, I honestly promise you that, I have been in the eBay game long enough..!

Otherwise, paid traffic is a possibility - but most major PPC networks will not approve landing pages monetised with eBay. Other ways might be by creating some sort of social presence, or perhaps buy cheap ads on other related sites etc. but that's quite an advanced game. Best bet is still SEO, but you HAVE to focus on the user experience, you can't just make an "eBay site", it won't work.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

    Hello everyone!
Just wanted to mention that against all odds, I got approved by eBay even though I had a crappy looking site...
I will most likely start a site 0 any suggestions are welcome in regards to tactics, etc...

    Thanks,

    Doron
