Ideas for a solution to this...?

I have s2member installed on my site, and the loading time of the site has slowed right down.

It's taking around 10 seconds to load with s2member activated. With s2member deactivated it's typically 1 to 2 seconds.

I've tried deactivating all plugins except s2member, and this doesn't help -- so I guess it's not a conflict with plugins.

-- I could use a different membership plugin. I don't know if this would do the trick. I looked at the speed of some wishlist member sites -- they didn't seem very fast; though some were a bit faster than mine…before I look into setting up another membership plugin, which I'm not sure will sort this, I want to see if there might be a way to deal with this keeping s2member.

-- I considered copying all of my site to a different domain that doesn't have s2member installed, so people can sign up on a faster site -- but the PayPal button that works through s2member seems to only work when it's on the member site.

-- I could set up a squeeze page, and offer membership through emails once people are on the list, but if possible I want people to see the main product on the landing page, and preferably be able to sign up for it there. (There is also a free product / list to sign up to on the landing page.)

This is the site: How to Write to Persuade and Sell

Thanks

Check out Optimize press. They have a membership site built in feature as well as the ability to create squeeze pages, sales pages, membership sites, product launch funnels, blogs, redirects and more... As far as the faster loading time... That's a question for support.

Get in touch with your host to see if they can help you track down the hold up. If it's the site in your signature, it feels almost like long sql queries. It could be any number of things, overloaded sql server is my best bet - it could just be a coincidence you just noticed.

EDIT: Also, the reason I say this is because it moves along fine a few times, then waits, moves along fine, then waits again. It's repetitive which leads me to believe it's possibly a sql problem. Your "wait" is about 8.5 seconds.

Just wondering why your site connects to s2member.com ?

I thought s2member was a standalone plugin for WP but it definitely seems that your page is connecting with their site.

I have a site with s2member installed and it doesn't connect to their site, that I can see, and my site flies!

Your site took 11.86 seconds and the page size was 142 KB.

My site took 2.38 seconds and page size is 349 KB and with s2member plugin installed doesn't connect to s2member

The s2member connection slows your site down a lot:
www.s2member.com/s-badges/ I have no idea what that is about

Pingdom Tools to check your site
