How do I split test? What tools?

11 replies
Say my business model is as follows,

Traffic --> Squeeze/Blog --> List --> OTO --> Buyers list --> Build Relationship --> Sales Page

Just the standard email marketing setup. How do I split test different sales pages and squeeze pages to pick the best one? What tools do I need to do this? Can someone give me in-depth instructions here?

    Hyper tracker is a great tracking tool. Works best if you are the product owner. There is training inside for this. Also Google Website Optimizer has tools and training.

    Depends how simple you want to keep things, you could use something like bitly and send a certain amount of trafic and check conversions and make slight changes and see difference, that would be the simple way, without trying to go into anything technical.

      Could you be a little more specific?

      Really?

      I didn't know that you could test with bit.ly, I always thought they were just a URL shortener?

      Would be interested in finding out how you do this also.

      @OP, I also recommend Hypertracker.

      It's only $19.99/month but you can track and test pretty much anything.

      You can also use Google Analytics which is free, and there are alot of tutorials for those.

    You could always set up multiple pages and different payment buttons and different autoresponders to see which source is producing the most for you, and what isn't.

    Go with Google Experiments to start.. if you then get the idea and have a bit more experience you can move on to paid services like hypertracker..

    I'm still using Experiments and works like a charm
