What are the best Solo Ad Sites/offers?

Hi I've been an Internet Marketer for the past year and have only just started noticing more solo ad offers as I'm getting into the forums.

I've been delving deep into the paths of SEO creating content for my own sites and getting them ranked to bring in free convertible traffic but have been reading up about paid traffic through Solo Ads and Ad Swaps etc. to help build my lists and use email marketing as a method to bring in more traffic.

Can anyone help me with suggestions on the best place's to get solo ads and if these are recommended forms of traffic generation?

Thanks...

Well, the most popular Solo Ad directory seems to be Reed Floren's Solo Ad Directory.
Also, there are a lot of Warriors offering such services for various niches. You can also search New-List for a larger variety of newsletters and e-zines that might promote your website.

      Thanks Dan,

I found most sites aren't specific to niches and only offer clicks without necessarily stating their target market, but I've found a few marketers who are happy to do some ad swaps directly through your advice of searching on WF. Cheers for the advice.

I would urge you to go into this with caution.

Personally I think the world of solo adverts is about to implode badly as it make the banking world look well regulated.

Should you decide to purchase an advert here's what you need to do before paying.

    #1 Know your numbers

What sort of conversion rates are you getting from other traffic sources?

If you're using double opt-in what rate of confirmation is normal?

How well do the offers in your funnel convert?

With these numbers in place you know roughly what to expect, and can work out the chances of a positive return on your investment. Don't be tempted to buy these solo adverts to work these numbers out, if your page sucked with other traffic sources don't think that paying for a solo advert is the cure.

    #2 Personal Branding

If you have a blind offer with generic claims like most other people buying the solo adverts are doing then you're going to fail. People are getting wise, and the chances of getting a real personal email address checked on a daily basis are slim if you're hiding behind a offer.

    #3 Test the market

Ask to subscribe to the sellers list, see what they're promoting and how often you get mailed. Also use your marketing email to check out the funnels of the other people buying, if they're all inexperienced newbies then don't expect the quality of your new list to be that great - unless you're happy selling crap to people for profit.

#4 Tracking & Stats to back up your refund claim

Make sure you can the IP address of the hits generated, and all the evidence from #1 to show that your offer converts.

This is very important. Many providers send traffic from traffic providers which come from all over the world and the reality is you probably want traffic from countries with large economies.

If I'm not mistaken (and I probably am) but doesn't the solo ad provider know that Reed is going to review their solo ad placement? If so, Isn't it obvious they will send him the best clicks compared to what anyone else is going to get?

It still amazes me why so many people still go the solo ad route. I mean, PPC is far more profitable with greater quality leads. Even Facebook ads are far better leads. You might pay a little more, but isn't that usually the case with most things - you pay for what you get.

I must admit. I've still flirted with solo ads here and there on rare occasions - but never once have seen anything to change my mind - solo ads are quick, but very weak. It's probably the best way to get opt-ins - but it sure as hell is not the best way to build a responsive list.

    You know what I'd recommend?

Buying Solo Ads from places that haven't been hammered by tons of other buyers before you.

Think of it like media buying, go straight to the source and offer the big bucks.

I've been doing this a lot recently, and I can tell you that the quality of leads you get by doing this are ten times greater than paying $50 for 100 clicks to a list thats been used, abused and completely worn out.

Another piece of advice that I can offer is go after the buyers lists. Obviously they cost A LOT more, but the quality is waaayyy worth it (obviously).

Having spent a King's ransom in Solo Ads over the last few years, I have found the diversity and quality of the lists to be all over the place. IMO, finding a newer solo ad provider that is an independent and a few good reviews is a good place to start. The newer list owners and the ones with high, daily lead flow numbers seem to yield the best short-term results. I usually send the solo providers optins to one of my larger catch-all buckets in a specific niche. The MMO/BizOp lists seem to work the best for me.

I only send broadcast emails to my generalized list to test and segment it. If I send out a generic BizOp work from home broadcast, the takers end up in a more specialized and filtered set of emails that drip over 120 days. Always segment your list.

As for solo providers, I have been using Solochecker.com lately and the results have been pretty good. The rating system seems to keep people honest as well. As for Safe-Swaps, I found that I was getting quite a few of the same subscribers being passed around. Everyone's name and email seemed to be written on the bathroom wall

In short, spend some time segmenting your lists properly and split test the heck out of your landing pages until you get some consistent good conversions with one or two of them. Once you have that metric, it is much easier to track the results of the solo provider you use. Also use your own tracking for your links and don't just rely on what the solo has.

I hope this helps in some way.
