When selling through JVZoo, do they become an automatic affiliate?

I've just made my first sale through JVZoo and it has been attributed to an affiliate which appears to be the company behind JVZoo. As I don't have any affiliates just yet I presume that JVZoo qualify automatically for affiliate status on all products sold through their system. Is this correct?

Glad of the sale though

    Yes, that is correct.

They will also automatically refund the money when a client asks for a refund and you honor that refund.

They also seem to have some strange cookie practices...

I refunded a sale and the customer later repurchased through a direct link I gave him to the WSO (long story)...and after the sale was complete JVZoo (BBC Systems) showed up as the affilaite taking the commission...

Not sure how thats right, thinking it had to be a mistake I had a friend test it and it happened again...they took it a second time.

I contacted CS about it and they said that "JVZoo cookies people in many different ways, especially between two purchases". I'll leave it up to you to decide if thats right or not...

I believe that you should be able to disable JV Zoo as an affiliate, just as you can disable Warrior Plus as an affiliate if you want to...

I would ask if they have an option like that, I know that Warrior Plus does.

Your paying them for their service, you should not have to allow them to be an affiliate.

Of course they will make sales for you, but if they have cookie practices that are not fair, I would make a stink about it. I have not sold through them yet, they do not seem to get as many affiliates Warrior Plus as of yet or the same amount of traffic.

Any system that abuses its authority is a no go with me, and I am not saying that they do, just saying that if they did, I would not use them.

I have looked all over their system and I dont believe that option is there...the only thing I can think of is they do have an option to not be selected as POTD, but who in their right mind (without knowing there were potential consequenses) would do that???

Yes, they made me about 150 sales which sounds nice on the surface but the problem is you have no way of knowing how many of those sales were from legitimate affiliate link referrals through their POTD emails as opposed to them simply claiming affiliate status on any number of (what should be considered) "no affiliate" sales...just to increase thier bottom line by taking it out of your pocket.

As soon as I can I will be moving my 2 POTD listings and I wont be using them again!

How often does JVzoo select products as POTD? Is it a rare thing to be selected or is it a common thing?

They select 1 product each day as their Product of the Day (POTD).

I would say it's a fairly common thing for them as they select one each day but it's not nearly as common for the product owners as there is a fair amount of competition and several products to choose from each day.

Now I'm not saying being picked POTD is a bad thing, not at all...it will add sales to your launch. The problem I have is their questionable (at best) cookie practices and how those could potentially affect not only the product owners bottom line but the affilates who promote those products as well.

Yea thats what I meant. As a seller what are the chances of them selecting me as a POTD. I actually just did my first JV product coupled with a WSO. The certainly did get me sales, but I have not decided if its a good or a bad thing yet.

One thing I did notice is that they took there little JV percentage out AND they took the sales commission out. So they basically double dipped.

Anyone know what criteria they use to pick a POTD?

OK, I think this is correct if what I am thinking is also...

The percentage you mention is probably because you chose a free listing...is that correct? If so, there is a 5% fee on each sale for that as opposed to the $17 per buy button or listing fee...whichever it is. So if they took the fee (because you chose the free listing) and were legitimately the affiliate for the sale then they should have been able to claim both payments...at least IMO. However, I do see how it can seem a bit dubious.

They haven't said publically to my kowledge but I can only assume its based on number of sales. The most sales for the day wins...

I cant remember where exactly the option to pay for the button is but I do know that your listings has to be a WSO and it has to be live before you have that option...

If you send CS an email I imagine they can get you there next time.

I too paid a big chunk on my first WSO with them, just over $400 I think it was so I totally understand.

    Best of luck to you!

I'm testing setting JVZoo commissions to zero and unselecting Make My Product Eligible For Product Of The Day".

Why am I doing this? I've always felt there was something fishy about sales credited to BBC Systems and Mindless Donkey.

Seems whenever I spend money on ads or do a promotion, a significant number of sales are credited to these two JVZoo poxy affiliates.

Now if I don't do a promo or run any ads, I don't seem to get any sales from "JVZoo's own marketing efforts" LOL!

Just had a customer accidentally purchaser the wrong version of a product, 15 minutes later they make a second purchase, this it is the version they had intended to buy. However the second purchase is magically credited to "BBC Systems, Inc."

    No way!

Honestly, I'm looking at dumping JVZoo all together.

This is indeed the solution. Also, I believe it prevents them from marketing to your customers (but, I'm not positive on that one).

Yes I've removed "Make My Product Eligible For Product Of The Day" from all my products. So I'll see what happens.

In my opinion, to have JVZoo inserting themselves as the referring affiliate is wrong. It's bad for vendors and bad for affiliates.

If they were using first cookie wins, then OK but not when it is last cookie wins.

I'm very new to IM but I learnt quickly that JVZoo were cookie stuffing and using the parent company BBC as an affiliate. Something else I noticed they list rent, and your inbox gets spammed.

If you are pick of the day, then someone might have clicked on the link in an email from jv zoo and or the banner ad in the jv zoo dash. That might cookie them to jv zoo. So even later if the customer then clicked on your link, they were still last cookied to an affiliate (jv zoo).

Not sure if thats what happened. But thats my best guess.
