Do You Dream About Marketing?

Lately I have been working so hard trying to recover
from taking a 30 day vacation across the country
and making sure all my customers are happy...

That I have been "working" in my dreams like doing
niche research, looking fo websites to flip, and thinking
of marketing angles.

Does anyone else do this in there sleep? Or do I just need a break?

The same with me - I can't get off the marketing thing - when I wake up - I start thinking and planning, and I do it all the time.

But I haven't been dreaming for a good while, though, I don't know why...

      Yeah, Justin,

It's our subconscious mind going into overdrive working to finish those ideas we didn't complete during the day for closure.

One of the side effects of the information overload age.

How funny and morbidly embarrassing that you should post this today, because, it means that I just have to tell you what happened to me last night and how utterly pathetic it was. Haha!

I dreamed that someone was taking me to finally meet Frank Kern. I was so thrilled and so excited! Was I thrilled and excited because I had a crush on him? Why, no. I was thrilled and excited, because, I was an up and coming marketer who had somehow gotten on some of the 'big guy's' radar and they were really impressed with my marketing genius.

I was thrilled to be finally becoming a serious, successful marketer.

      How lame is that?

Dream of romance? Dream of passion? Nah, why waste time with sappy crap! I dream of meeting good-looking, successful marketers so that I can be 'one of the boys'!!

      Lisa = DORK! :p

Justin, just to put your mind to rest (if that's possible) - you're quite normal.

Dreaming about things that you are passionate about and have been occupying your waking hours is very common, especially amongst those of us who are self-employed. Be grateful that you're not being kept awake by worrying about things but instead are trying to solve 'pleasant' puzzles within your business.

Problem solving in your sleep, or close to sleep, is a method utilised by some famous inventors such as Edison and Tesla, so you're in good company.

Having said that, it IS important to switch off. A good night's sleep will allow you to be a hell of a lot more productive the next day. A warm, milky drink (just like grandma used to make) is good before bed (not laced with anything though!) as is some forms of exercise - I'll leave that up to your own imagination as to the possibilities.

Have a pen and paper next to your bed too. That way, when an idea pops into your head, you can write it down and allow your subconscious to be free again.

Just a few ideas - hope they help

      Peter

I dream about work and product creation all the time, but not in any useful, logical kind of way. I get the sort of dreams where I feel that just a little php would make Canada sit tidily inside my knicker drawer, or that the automation of the distribution of flat-packed dehydrated water is just around the corner if I can just upload the plans via ftp to the nearest lampshade for safekeeping.

Either my brain is brewing one heck of a product, or more likely it's telling me that I ought to get out more

I regularly have 3-4 second dreams where I login to my Clickbank account and see I've made a tonne of money... then I wake up and see that I haven't

I think the 30 day break was probably enough. Your brain was just missing it too much during that time. After it gets caught up the dreams will stop.

    • I just had an hour long conversation regarding the ins and outs of what I do for a living with my boyfriend... And now I have so many ideas I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. And if I do, guess what...

I'll be dreaming about marketing again.

Last night I had a dream that my copywriting WSO sold out and John Reese was one of my customers, he was so thrilled he put me on a 6 figure retainer and bought me a house on the beach.

      Ahh, to dream...

    Hi Justin,

I do dream about it. Hahaha.

They are random dreams which makes no sense to me when I wake up. And I end up with a bad headache.

I think most probably being online marketers, we are constantly exposed to high stimulation from our external environment such as the computer and our internal thoughts.

We really need to take breaks once in a way, consciously! =)

    Cheers,
    John

This reminds me of when I used to play this video game all the time, literally. When I would lay down at night I would literally see and feel like I was still playing it as I was closing my eyes... It was a cool feeling.

Long story made short, I took a break from the game and it fixed my problem!
