Will a Wordpress blog likely perform better than Blogger?

I know that quality of content will play a large part in overall performance, but does the Wordpress platform offer tangible benefits over using Blogger? Does Google favour Blogger? Are there any other superior blogging options that I should know about? Thanks.

Blogger can delete your blog. If you actually want to have control over your site go with wordpress. Wordpress is easier IMO to monetize and is much more flexible with themes and designing.

As far as SEO, I think both Blogger and Wordpress rank well. Blogger might have a little advantage, but that is why I would use them as backlinks to your Wordpress site.

When I search blogs to comment on, I do not go to blogger sites. I have found them to be buggy to comment on and as a rule they are run by bloggers with a very small following. So if others feel the same way about avoiding blogger sites, you may find your traffic slower than with a wordpress site. Good luck, Ed.

WordPress on your own domain and hosting.

It's such a small price to pay for so much peace of mind.

I suspect that the original question was between WordPress.com hosted blogs and Blogger hosted blogs.

In both, you can get your blog set up for free, and anytime you relegate your web presence to a third-party, you could have your hard word deleted at any time for any reason.

I would consider using the WordPress software on your own domain to be the best option, simply because you will always be in control of your own future.

Another advantage of the self-hosted WordPress blog is that you can use the full-range of WordPress Plugins and Themes, rather than the limited selection offered by WordPress.com.

The only downside to using a self-hosted WordPress blog is that you will have to pay your way...

I can personally vouch for this advice! I tried blogger, then wordpress.com and finally settled where I should have gone first ie, Wordpress.org with my own hosted domain.

The above comments regarding plug-ins etc, are particularly pertinent!

I also like the idea of using blogger for backlinks and adsense - never thought of that myself!

I would use WP for the main site, but you can create Blogger blogs that, when well-made, will drive traffic to your main site and even earn a little Adsense income along the way.

I agree. I used to do it like that. Might need to start that back up.

I´ll stick with WordPress, It´s by far the best option when it comes to IM. I find it to be better and more flexible than Blogger in most cases.

I wouldn't touch Blogger with ten foot pole honestly. Being that Google owns them makes my decision stick even more. Wordpress hosted on your own domain is the only way to go for me since I get a peace of mind knowing I am in control of my site. Blooger has been known to delete your site for whatever reasons so be careful if you do decide to go with them.

Yeah, like others have mentioned already you really need to get your own domain and hosting and setup your own blog so you have complete control over it as opposed to Google or Wordpress.com.

HostGator has a Baby plan for under $10 per month and would be ideal for your situation. Once you get the domain and hosting simply login to your Cpanel and install WP with the click of a mouse.

Then you have a whole myriad of options to chose a theme, etc... So, in the end host your own blog so you have 100% control. Google has enough control, don't give them control over your blog

Look for reseller hosting accounts that sometimes offer packages for as little as $2.99 a month.
